Video Games (or series) that you are obsessed with?
Posted 1/25/16 , edited 1/25/16
The title is pretty self explanatory. I'm sure some of you have a game or series that you play repeatedly or buy every game in the series.

For me, it has to the be the Pokemon series. I used to go through phases of not playing it, but I always found my way back to it.

Another game that I have played countless times is Fire Emblem: Awakening. I always find enjoyment through each playthrough and there is just so much to do!

Archeage, used to anyway. I just love how you can build a character up to the point where any less then a full raid of fifty might have a problem dealing with ya in pvp. And even against fifty average players you can take enough of them down to give a good accounting of yourself. Damn it was so much fun sitting in a pvp zone and beating all comers all day long if you felt like it.

Archeage one of the few MMO's where solo play is possible for 90% of the content, save the high level dungeons like Serpantine, which if I remember right wouldn't even let anything less then a ten man party in. Sucked since my guild was only nine strong, dedicated pvps the lot of them though. So being cut off from one PVE dungeon wasn't too bad, but it would have been nice to see if the loot was worth the effort.

Metroid, for one. Each game had amazing atmosphere, great music, (mostly) unobtrusive storyline. Fusion was kind of a misstep and then Other M just continued doing wrong what Fusion did wrong and now Nintendo seems content to ignore the franchise for as long as humanly possible. I mean sure, there's stuff like Axiom Verge and the like. But they're nowhere close to being Metroid.

Maybe it's just as well - they really backed themselves into a wall with Fusion's ending and there's not enough room on the timeline to really squeeze in more games.

Devil May Cry for another. The first game was a great blend of survival horror and action, with quality level design and enemy design. The overuse of repeat bosses was a big drag, though.
The second game is probably one of the worst games in general I've played willingly. One of the bosses is a demon-possessed tank. You can just get close to it and slash at it infinitely and it can't do anything because it can't aim at you. Then the next boss is a demon helicopter. You can only shoot it. Guns do miniscule damage. It's not fun.
The third game was pretty much perfect. Challenging, lots of variety thanks to the style system, and the coolest rival character around.
Four has its ups and downs, largely thanks to lack of Dante and the fact that when you do play as Dante it's all retreads of areas and enemies/bosses.
DmC was hot garbage originally and while I hear the Definitive Edition fixes it a lot I don't care to replay a game I loathed.

Fire Emblem's also been one of my favorite franchises ever since the GBA days of Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn & the Eirika and Ephraim siblings. Awakening's pretty alright, I never got very far the first time I played it and I haven't played it much since I got it again. Fates seems fun, but I'm not a huge fan of the pricing scheme regardless of how much content there is in the game. I'll probably just buy whatever version gets me Camilla the fastest.

Battlefield. I started with BF2 but i also played Bad company 2 , BF3 and BF4. Always bought all the expansions and dlc's.
I used to love resident evil and dead or alive but i went off them a bit. Silent hill is another fave. Final fantasy is another series i once loved but went off of.
Suikoden 1 and 2 were faves of mine, 3 was supposedly really good but never came out in my country, heard 4 sucked and i think it was part 5 that i played and it was good.
Star occean.
Persona.
Shadow run.
Kings bounty.
Dragon age is one of my favourites ever.
Mass effect no boubt.
Fallout no doubt (i didn't play the really old school ones though)
X com is no doubt one of my all times faves since way back.
Command and conquer was always a fave , shame they stopped making them.

FFXII- my most favorite FF in the series. No Nomura, no zippers, no anime crap, great battle system.

Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza- my most favorite series of all time. 5 was the weakest in story but makes up for it with the scale of the game.

DOA5 games- Bought vanilla, bought Ultimate, bought Last Round, then bought Last Round again for PS4, and a load of DLC... What? I love oppai.

Suikoden 3 is on PSN if you can get it. Its great. 4 is shovelware and the worst RPG I ever played more than 10 hours of.

I'm obsessed with Takahashi games (Xenoblade, Xenogears, Xenosaga ep 1, and XCX). Bought a Wii and WiiU specifically for the last 2 xenoblade games. I also buy every FF (even though there are some I don't like) and Fire Emblem game released.
