Instead of all these shorts though I would rather one good anime full length series. Imagine if CR had darker then black or Monster or Ghost in the shell. I would take one of those over all of these combined. :(

No... please, no. I can't remember how many times I've been hyped for a show, only to find out each episode is 3-5 minutes long. Completely kills the hype. No more shorts, please.

can i have full length seasonal anime instead

More like, "we don't have enough bargaining power to get full length shows, so we're getting all these crappy shorts just to inflate our simulcast numbers and not look pathetic compared to FUNi".

It has noting to do with that so stop making stuff up, some of those shows were either package deals with normal run time shows or didn't cost them as much as as normal running shows, but don't act like this is all their fault and had you looked at the schedule this season you would have seen over half the shows were guess what.....shorts. You are so full of it, Funi inflates their numbers every season by including left over shows from other seasons to the current one and that one season where your precious funi claimed to have 25 titles they only had 12 the rest were left over shows from the previous season so don't hand me that bs. Your precious funi stopped picking up shorts because they only care about profit marginalization and would have to release all of those shows later on on dvd and they feel there would be little to no "profit in it for them.

I wonder if the growing amount of anime with short episodes might have to do with people having a shorter attention span online. I also think people arent paying as much for anime, like in the past. There for, we have anime studios with smaller budgets

Yamishibai is a picture-story style of animation whose motif is surrounded and based off the rumors, and urban legends throughout the history of Japan.

First they take out the creepy storyteller from the first two series' OP's, and now a rap ED theme instead of another Miku ED.
(And just as both were starting to get us interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyYN_FBiyRo )

Looks like it jumped the shark already.

DID they take out the creepy storyteller? Or are you missing the obvious?
Also, seasons 1 and 2 had episodes like season 3 too. It wasn't all just rumors/urban legends.

I love these shorts!! Some of them are way better than the regular length series', and the rest are good for a laugh!! Just as long as having all of them doesnt stop CR from concentrating on getting the full-length series!!

I must be, now we've got the kid and his sketchbook...
(Thus suggesting that the "drawn" yamishibai stories are his sketches, rather than the old traditional kamishibai Japanese picture-story presentations, which was the whole point of the show title in the first place.

Oh, right, the rapping faces in the ED? Sorry, not good enough.

I used to not be a fan of short anime, but lately I've come to appreciate and enjoy them a lot more. Got a lot on my plate right now working full-time and studying for my CPA exam, so I'm grateful for entertainment in small doses.

Favorite right now is Sekkou Boys, but I like the shorts on the Ultra Super Anime Time block in general. (Last seasons' Kagewani was really fun.)

Love Sekko Boys! Short is a good length for the gags in this one.

I'm in love with Mahou Shoujo Nante Mouiidesukara, and have been a Fan of Teekyuu from way back. Galko-chan is digustingly hilarious. I continue watching it for Otako. <3

I don't necessarily hate shorts, but I really really wish that they were organized separately from the rest of the catalog. I've lost track of how many times on here over the years that I've gone to start a show then get disappointed that it wasn't full length.

I was surprised to discover that Komori-San Can't Decline turned to be a five-minute short-format show (with a one-minute ED), but the "short" format didn't bother me so much as the lack of plot and otaku-era volleyball-sized cleavage.

I'm giving it a few more episodes to figure out whether it's about anything, even within the confines of the "slice-of-life" genre.

In the early days of Crunchyroll simulcasting I had a strict policy of watching every short-format show. But there's so many now! And I never updated my policy, I'm drowning in shorts!

I honestly enjoy the format, but I do think there's validity in others speaking ill of it. From the start it's been a primarily low-production value format, which means a defaulted low quality. There's also so very little room for depth and development. But the true problem is in some groups that are putting in too little effort and abusing the medium as a type of extended-PV for whatever they're promoting. Not as in "but all anime is trying to promote the original material" but rather in the sense that they're doing it just to do it, hoping for sales along the way.

Shorts get fairly judged by me and have their own specially-tagged place in my MAL list. They do noticeably average a lower score, though Poyopoyo and The Comic Artist and His Assistants nicely scored 10s, the format can work great plenty often.

Watch ALL the shorts!
