The iOS app for free members has adverts ok that's fine not a problem you have to make money in order to keep the servers ect. but what's really annoying me is the fact the app plays the same freaking advert twice at the start then twice again sometimes even three time at the end of the op then 2 or 3 times again half way through and then again 2 or 3 times and it's really really annoying me now why the heck does it play th same advert three times in a row 3 times per episode like seriously every episode I'm watching I'm spending like 6-7 minutes watching the same crappy advert like 10 times an episode like seriously c'mon is there really a need to play that many ...... or is the app just broken and f it is fix it already

It's the same if you use the website you know, this isn't like some crappy streaming service. Chrunchyroll is legal and there needs to be a lot of ads there are two reasons for this, the first is that to be legal they need the anime creators to agree to let them upload it and for this the creators need to get something in return, obviously it's money they want and so these adds help supply the anime creators and the second reason is like you said, they need to keep the servers up. So they need to keep servers up and at the same time pay the anime creators in order to keep there anime on the site. It's the same even if you don't use the app and yer I get the same thing where I watch the same ad tons of times but big deal, it's just an ad if really shouldn't annoy you.

actually, CR pays the right-holders for the series, which is the CEOs of anime companies. the animators are typically paid by a per-frame basis and are in general worse-off compared to people who work in fast-food. that's probably one of the reason capsule hotels exist in Japan.

i think CR should try to not annoy it's users with an excessive, obnoxious ads. worst case scenario, they will stop using CR for anime and find their series "elsewhere" with much better quality (or possibly rent the dvd/bd disks from a local library)
i don't think funi had even that much ads in their videos.
basically, don't make the ad experience look like this:

It's better then most streaming services atleast in my opnion and sure it's not the animators but my point still stands that the money is going to a specific owner who is giving CR the right to upload the show. And sure they can go on to a different service, but most other anime services are illegal, whatever. It doesn't really matter but I think it's kinda petty to complain about ads.

i disagree with you on this Eira, the ads were somewhat of an inconvenience at times, sure i can sit through a couple just like any other show, but now, on my Ipad or Iphone i can get upwards of 20 ads for a 30 min show. Let me say that again.. TWENTY ads for a 30 min show. That is totally unacceptable by anyone's standards. It's to the point now where the adds are almost as long as the show.
