Okay, I'll bite. What's the shitty game design in Dark Souls?

Many things, but mainly the fact that EVERYTHING is designed in a way to kill you. Srsly, a dodge-animation shouldn't allow you to roll a cliff and yet it's possible. Enemies respawning everytime in the exact same location. OP enemies in the middle of a "lov-lvl-area". And the whole combatsystem is so fucking slow.
Idk, I really tried loving this series and had numerous ppl tell me I would but I've always ended up being annoyed from fighting my way through the same area over and over again

Honestly? If you roll off a cliff while dodging that's not even close to being the game's fault. You should absolutely not be dodging close to a cliff unless you're dodging away from it.

The game at its heart is a quasi-Metroidvania and enemy respawns is part of that genre. If you could just go through the game once and clear everything out and just walk to the boss every time it'd be boring. Not to mention that with enough practice you can run by 80% of the enemies and barely get hit.

OP enemies in a low lvl area? Like the skellymans in Firelink or the Black Knight in the first area? The skellymans are there to go "psst go somewhere else", though if you have a mace or any kind of weapon that can make them fall apart they're not much trouble. The Black Knights are supposed to be a challenging little miniboss with the chance to drop a really cool item that makes you go "Oh man I'm glad I fought this guy".

The combat's not meant to be very fast, though it changes drastically depending on what weapon you're using. A katana or falchion will get you a bunch of hits, a zweihander or claymore will just be one slow hit. Even Bloodborne, the fastest the combat in the franchise has gotten, is still slow compared to something like DMC4 or Bayonetta.

I mean, yeah, game series is definitely not meant for everyone, but none of what you listed is really a poor design choice. Stuff like how much the game keeps secret from you mechanics-wise, P2P multiplayer - those are bad design decisions. It's been like 4, 5 years since Dark Souls came out and 7 since Demon Souls came out and people are still learning stuff about those games because of how opaque some of its mechanics are.

Your opinion. Imo it's just bad game design and outdated by now.

Hardest game I played was Game of Dice since you do not really know the skill cards and the next move of the enemy. You will have no way to find out. And it is also all based on luck so I would say it is pretty hard for me. It's also hard to get characters and skill cards too. But all in all it is a fun mobile game

^ yes, but pssh, before that, ghosts 'n goblins. Tell me, what happens when you beat the game? It says to beat it again for the true boss & ending. Just doing it one time is quite a feat. These games set the bar for murderous difficulty from then onward.

Mario Tennis on the GBC, I'm not even kidding.

There's like RPG-style stats that you have to level up to win anything and in order to level up you have to complete impossible training regimens and fine tune the physics of your spin on a tiny 2D ball and I can't even

Not sure how you'd react to Master Ninja mode then

The final boss is actually one of the easiest in the game, especially when you compare to everything else on Master Ninja difficulty.

Probably a board game called Ghost Stories.

I've played it so many times and have a good grasp of the mechanics (they aren't hard to understand) but the ghosts simply become overwhelming in mid-late game. By the time Wu Feng's incarnation shows up, you usually already have your hands full. I've probably only won three or four games total even though I've played dozens and dozens of times.

I've tried altering some rules to make it a little easier. I made a house rule that allows each exorcist to automatically have 1 attack power of their respective colors against ghosts, and I changed the yellow priest's Mantra of Weakening ability so that the player may attach it to any other ghost if the ghost with a Mantra on it is exorcised. I changed the Buddha placement rule slightly, allowing the placement of a Buddha statue to not take up an action (but can't place more than one per turn and can't place the Buddha the same turn you get it). I'm also using the old rule that four haunted village tiles lead to defeat rather than three. I'm using only one incarnation. The game is still pretty hard even though this is easier than Initiation Difficulty, according to the official new rulebook.

If you don't have all four players and opt to use the Neutral Power tokens rule, the game just gets a little harder. I even changed the Neutral Power rule so that a player with multiple tokens can use the same Neutral Power more than once. Still hard.

I usually play with one other person so we're starting to have better teamwork, and he no longer wastes all his actions attempting impossible exorcisms, so maybe there's hope in the future. Still, a lot of it boils down to luck since those Curse rolls slaughter us sometimes. So far, we've won one game together and it was against one of the easier incarnations. I think we'll get destroyed if I start putting multiple incarnations into the ghost deck...

There's many games that would make this list but the first game I actually had considered returning because it was so hard is Dark Souls 1 of the souls series so..... that's my hardest game.

What's yours?

AGREED!! I have yet to finish that game just for the simple fact that I had to take a break from all the dying I was doing lol

You do not fail! I have NEVER EVER gotten past Team Rocket in PS2. I had friends that some how either got carts that were already past that point or got insanely lucky. But I could never beat them. No matter what I did.
