I honestly don't know why this freaks people out. The rise of bottle usage and formula fed babies has led to this weird phobia of a boob being utilized in the way nature intended. It's a ridiculous cultural glitch. Heck, back in the day, nursemaids - ie the "wet nurse", were women who were paid to feed others women's babies their breast milk. Times have changed haven't they? People shouldn't be grossed out by this- it's like freaking out over women not having c-sections. wth?! So women's bodies can only be utilized for sex? People have some seriously odd hang-ups. If breastfeeding causes some strange reaction in you that you freak out over it- you should probably question yourself why this would bother you. Most of the time we react strongly when we have some sort of insecurity about something. Shame, guilt, fear etc. Instead of over-reacting, try turning it into a moment of personal insight and growth. You shouldn't be grossed out or angry about it. Were you breastfed as a child? Have you had any traumatic experiences with breast-feeding? Use logic and think it through carefully. Otherwise, just ignore it and look away. Like a well adjusted person does.

I don't really care, if the baby is hungry, feed it. Those damn super ultra uber mega sensitive people are always overreacting. You don't want to see a boob? Look away, you're not gonna die when you see it, damn.

I gave it up when I was about 8 months old.

Mothers should be allowed to feed a child when it's hungry.
Ps Is this a USA cultural thing because it's no biggie in other countries?

Yep.

I know in Europe, they're more relaxed about this, but in the US, certain people would look at you like you were running around naked and abusing your child if you dared to breastfeed in public....

Oh well. There are bigger fish to fry.

I don't care too much about it. Not like I am gonna stare at them there. Nah. The kid needs to be fed and so be it.

Usually I am all for feminism, but I don't think you should breastfeed in public. Women are not allowed to show off their boobs in any other circumstances.

The worst thing is when they do it in restaurants. You are not allowed to brush or comb your hair in restaurants. Well, I'd rather see someone brushing their hair than see a woman with her tit lobbed out when I'm trying to eat

Just don't gawk at her breasts while she's feeding her hungry child. look away and your problem is solved?

Well......sometimes you can't really look away without making it obvious and like the previous poster said...I mean, do you really wanna see someone's titty in a restaurant?

I mean, if I see someone doing it, I'm not gonna be an arse about it because I don't know the circumstances...

Why should your self control issues be used to prevent a mother from feeding her child.

If a woman is breast feeding in a restaurant that I'm in, I really couldn't care less. I know she's feeding her hungry child. Why should she be confined to feeding her child in hot, cramped cars or nasty restrooms while in public. Why does what she's doing for her children offend you? Breasts are natural, non-sexual organs that you shouldn't be offended by. Are you upset if a woman is wearing a low cut shirt? Do bikini's offend you?

Absolutely. There is nothing inherently sexual about it at all. It's a mother feeding her child.

Its simple, those who are against it, for the reasons like sexualization and not letting kids see it.... well its natural, you would be angry if the baby was screaming at the top of its lungs because its hungry, you get angry because they are fed, your just unable to be happy in general.
Its natural, its perfectly fine, Its not sexual, its the same as eating a steak or drinking water, whats more unnatural is that we drink from the tits of other animals and shun those who feed there children what they physically NEED.

Sorry, I meant breastfeeding is perfectly fine in public as long as you don't show yourself. Peeing/Pooing has sanitary issues so bathrooms only for that.

Definitely not! I think it's downright disgusting and should only be done in private!

A breasts function is to feed newborn children. They can be used as sexual objects, just like your hands. Doesn't mean hands are sexual objects all the time and in every setting. And no, you can't touch them just like I wouldn't appreciate you touching my shoulder.

I don't get charged when I touch your shoulder though.

I guess women dictate what's 'crossing the line' by their personal feelings.
