When you encounter someone with a female avatar (especially when you don't notice their listed gender), do you associate them with being a girl?

Yes.

I always equate the person with the avatar, unless I make a specific effort to check.

I also select avatars that I feel project the image I desire for the forum in question.

Yep, pretty much always. Though if the person kind of has a masculine demeanor to me, I might start thinking they're a male.... Although sometimes the people I think might be a boy end up being a girl!

Of course, if I see that they listed themselves as male, I know that they're male.

Your avatar is actually the one that inspired me to make this poll. The femininity is too strong!
