Who is your favorite anime director and why?

Mine is Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy, Terror in Tokyo, Kids on the Slope). Always enjoyed most of his projects especially Samurai Champloo, one of my favorite series that I've marathoned a few years ago.

Yuasa Masaaki is also great for his recent work involving Ping Pong the Animation and Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei. The unique style of his work really brings a refreshing way of presentation. Tsutomu Mizushima's work with Girls und Panzer, Shirobako, Genshiken Nidaime, etc were also some of my favorite series for the past few years.

Oh I almost forgot to mention that Ryousuke Nakamura returned recently to his director role. Not one of my favorites but still a pleasant sight to see.

Definitely the king of Mechas Kawamori Shoji. I'm in love with all his works. Favorites would be Aquarion Evol, Nobunaga the Fool, Genesis of Aquarion, Macross Frontier and now Macross Delta. Keep the mechas coming Kawamori <3

Mamoru Hosoda - Love his movies (and his one piece film is the best in the series)
