What kind of laws exactly do you want to pass to combat this?

At least the opportunity to actually report harassment

You guys don't have that in South Africa?

Man, I wish the feminists fighting for stupid shit here in the U.S. would be more pro-active where feminism is actually needed. That would be something I could actually rally behind the idea of feminism for.

It's humiliating and dehumanizing.

Feminism/Equality is a joke in the reality I live. However I do have in mind that within South America there are countries that have already approved laws against harassment, nonetheless mine hasn't. I imagine there must be parts not only in my country but in the South American region where laws about respect and treat towards women are very urgently needed. It is not surprising that in those desolate communities (mostly in the Amazon rainforest, Andes mountain range) or exempt areas from governmental contact, cases exist worse than those of rape.

Well, in short, harassment is a reality faced everywhere, is up to people how we choose to treat people no matter their sex or orientation.

I've been harassed, sexually, before.

One time I was trying on some pants and the clerk walked in, got an eyeful of bratwurst (FYI commando only for me), froze for a second while her eyes followed "it" as I turned to pose, she looked me in the eyes, and as she shut the door slowly.

She then winked at me as I left the room.
WINKED.
I'm so offended *hyperventilates*
I've never felt so oppressed before in my LIFE.

Would you not be more afraid of them STALKING, and to the point where they could even try to break in to get to you?...
But agian you guys most have gotten to, through a bad area as these guys was either wanting more or could go far maybe further then you would think.

and yes a homeless person would maybe have nothing to go for and a "treat" would be "nice" so long atleast thats under control (to where they could feel nothing for you and could do anything to you).

but agian this calling out is rude but calling it harassment?
like just talking to you for no random reason you could try to defend yourself (but could turn out bad) or just don't answer as most do and it shouldn't be that bad also what time was it? + no "normal" area (either not filled with drunk people and depends on the time a day, so on).

Whoops, I read "South America" as "South Africa." My bad.

It's kind of surprising to hear that the Andes mountains countries are so bad... Chile and Argentina are supposed to be very developed countries. Totally believable about the rainforest countries, though. (Weird that my spellcheck doesn't consider "rainforest" a word.) I never actually really hear/read/see much of anything about South America.

Feminsim/Equality is a joke here in the States, too, but it's a joke on the opposite end of the spectrum. Wish we could send our excess of feminism down there, hahaha!

Seriously, though, it always pisses me off when I hear about places that really do need feminism and then see the bullshit we tackle here or Western Europe.

What kind of government does your country have? Is there a way for citizens to stand up and call for social reforms, or are you more or less "stuck" in that kind of position?

report it?... now you are joking right?...
sure unless it becomes in the dangerous side of things, stalking.

but then agian its not bad if someone likes your body for what it are as many female and males would maybe like/love it.
looking at is not the worst thing (even though from times it could be very uncomfortable)

She was saying on the first page in response to sundin13 that she would love to have the ability to report it, which I'm taking to mean that most forms of harassment in her country are not considered illegal. (Which, I have to admit, is really fucked up.)

I mean, unless she's counting the stare ting or the guy greeting her, that is.... No reason for that stuff to be considered criminal harassment.

Yeah, it did, and that kind of stuff going into law I'd totally be against. Hell, I'd be against a law against someone simply following you unless it could be proven that it's really bad enough to be considered stalking.

It's mainly the physical contact one that I would be against. Which I guess is more along the lines of actual molestation than harassment.

I know, right? All I'm doing is informing women that I would gladly have sex with them, if they were willing. This is a service I provide for free, out of the goodness of my heart, because gosh darn it, that's just how much I care about ensuring the female population knows I am ready, willing and able to provide deep dickings to non-uggos.

When people misconstrue that as harassment, well! Needless to say such ungrateful females certainly won't be favored by my attentions again!

Sounds sickening, if someone is doing that to the point where they are obviously folowing/stalking you for a distance, like the guy mentioned in the first post, get out a phone and record them! show it to your family and if it bothers you enough show it to the cops!

Harassment is something me and my buddies always come across.... We've had stalkers, harassers, one person even attempted assault at us. Luckily me and my buddies are also quite well-equipped and prepared for anything bad and we always travel together.
