So I'll keep this short and simple since its my birthday and i want to bet back to eating cake and decorating the pinata.
As we all know in today's entertainment women are portrayed as these brain-dead abominations whose only purpose is to supply eye candy for the viewers (well not all but many). many of us dont believe that all woman are like this but alot of us draw prejudices from watching it.

My question to men is do you buy into this and view woman differently due to the media?

And for women do you become cynical and blame men for thier chauvinism or do you accept it and become happy and blissful?

Women in the media today are quite well represented. I see many female news anchors, investigative journalists, politicians and executives. Women portrayed in the entertainment industry are fairly well represented as well. Female action stars such as milla jovovich (fifth element, ultraviolet, resident evil series), uma thurman (kill bill vol 1 & 2), kate beckinsdale (underworld and underworld:evolution). I could go on naming ass kicking female action stars, a role which used to be reserved quasi-exclusively for men like arnold, willis and stallone. Then there are intelligent females such as that young woman in transformers ( I don't know her name) who finds the hacking signal of the decepticons while her two male couter-parts are portrayed as inept. Katie Holmes played an incorruptable assistant DA in batman begins, the list goes on and on. Both sides today are equally represented in all aspects of heroism, intellectualism and idealism. Sometimes women are cast as dumb because there are dumb women out there, the same is true for males.

The point is that women today are not portrayed exclusively as feeble dumb creatures. In fact I would have to say that women in the movies have never really been portrayed as weak and feeble. They have always stood up and fought for what they believe in. The problem with women in the past was their rights, and nowadays women have all the same rights as men and many more social services available to them than men. And to play devil's advocate, men have always shared the role of "idiot" alongside women but men just never complained about it.

In today's entertainment mediums namely television and the movies, we see women in all aspects of power. The real problem is what women are reading. Let's look at a female targeted magazine publication, i have picked cosmopolitan off the top of my head(http://www.cosmopolitan.com/). Upon opening the page I am bombarded with pink and some cantaloupe colored background. There is a slideshow of the headlines. Keep in mind that the headlines are the attention grabbers and should be the biggest draw to it's target audience: women. Before posting the headlines i will write out the sections of that wonderfully empowering women's website. From left to right.

SEX & LOVE | STYLE & BEAUTY | HOT GUYS | CELEBS & GOSSIP | YOU, YOU, YOU | FUN & GAMES | COSMOLICOUS

Now, on to the headlines:
Buy the march issue of cosmo and you'll find out: The 5 things that could be holding you back from a mind blowing orgasm! Cover model Rihanna's biggest insecurity! A five second beauty ritual that will perk up your complexion!

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! EMPOWERMENT AWAITS WITHIN MIND BLOWING ORGASMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TL;DR? My long awaited conclusion: Women are not portrayed as brain dead abominations. As a male I perceive women as people with their own interests and hobbies. Some are pretty and some are ugly and i admit that I would much rather watch a pretty woman than an ugly one, beauty isn't all there is too it. As long as the woman in question is entertaining I will pay attention. I believe the problem lies with awesome publications like cosmopolitan as flagships for women, it's kind of hard to believe that some women aern't like their brain dead counterparts. The problem here isn't women's portrayal as idiots, that's happens just as much as it happens to men, the real problem is the mostly unattainable standard of beauty that seems to be demanded from the media.

Women are seen sexually by men. Hmmmm. I don't see anything unnatural here since the main difference physical between women and men are sexual. Are women portrayed in a bad way by the media? Please... Watching television is "entertainment". We don't tell someone that we're gonna go watch television to work or do something serious. What is one thing that is entertaining or pleasing for a man? Sex, beauty, and action are a part of forms of mental stimulation for men. There's a reason why most major male actors are also good looking as well as boy bands. You think Justin Timberlake would be one of the biggest money makers in the industry if he looked like a before photo of Jared the Subway Guy? I see nothing wrong with entertainment aside from the fact that people with half a brain (which seems to be the majority of the world) are controlled by it for some reason.

Women are perceived as brain dead abominations? In what? Music videos? The very few shows that might show sexually explicit and submissive women? If you notice, almost all of these are comedy shows. It's for humor and not to be taken seriously. And they're for men. If anyone is retarded enough to take a music video seriously and start applying it as knowledge in life, please visit me since I can probably sell you shit out of my toilet to someone so stupid.

In today's society where I'm from, girls are having sex younger and younger. I'm not calling them sluts or anything, but it's kind of hard to get a girlfriend my age who doesn't want to show off... their whole fucking body as if they wanna get fucked. Meh, not all women/ girls are like this, but still... and guys try and act hella hard..

I think that the women portrayed in the media are very different fro their real personality. These women are being paid to do so, for example supermodels or magazine models, they are never that hot or sensual behind cameras, in fact they are not the same person.
The media makes their audience see what they want us to see.

I think most of the program's/movies portraits woman as objects. It makes me so angry about it
I barely see an intelligent woman on tv that does something good, instead of showing her body to everyone..it just makes me sick. They look too cheap and pathetic
Woman r much more worth than just a body

I don't like how most people see women. I partly blame it on the media since, for example, to be able to attract people to buy a certain product companies use women dressed in sexy outfits for the product to attract potential buyers.

But that's not always the case.

I dont really care. But I think the view on women in general nowadays is that they are as capable as men. As for women in the media, well, some are protrayed as Si Beh (means Very) stupid while some are portrayed as really smart. And some just have big boobs.

media's portrayal of women has its negative and positive sides...
the negative part is that, they tend to show more skins to attract viewers..
but then, positive part would be showing how women nowadays has taken part in changing the world for the better

I find that women who are not as the media portrays them are generally fat and physically repulsive. I also find that those who are genreally physically appealing are just as the media potrays them. Because lets face it the world likes pretty things. And girls are generally always pretty. So they lack character. But the same can be said about ugly females as well. Because they develop the anti-media personality so they lack character.

Point is, video games are much better than females.
