Obviously they predicted that in the future, someone would make a Deadpool movie come out on February the 14th. Deadpool is the true meaning of valentines day.

If you treat your loved one special every day, then really, that is the bar you set for yourself as normal/average. Normal is nothing special.

Every person has days that of utmost importance. If one of those days just happen to a holiday, then what's so bad about it? Go out of your way to really extend yourself and make that day memorable. It's not about you in the end.

What's special about it is all the girls who don't want to be single and alone on that day come out of the woodwork so it is easier for guys like me to be the exact type of guy mommy and daddy told their little princess to avoid.

What's special about it?! It's the day that world war two ended, putting a stop to the tyranny of the axis powers, cementing the rise of democracy and... oh, you meant Valentine's day.

this is what I thought at first too haha

Honestly though,
Most people who dislike valentines day are just salty about it tbh.

And for those who complain about the commericial side of it, the great freedom of choice is that you do not have to take part if you don't want to. You don't have to buy anything, you could just make your significant other breakfast in bed or just a fancy meal, or anything homemade.

Valentine's Day is just a celebratory day that's part of our culture. If you don't like that it's part of our culture, tough. Get over it.

St. Valentine is groaning in his coffin right now.

The reason he was punished was because he was secretly helping people get engaged when the King had banned it and claimed that love made men weak soldiers.

It's a huge marketing holiday for the most part. But like any holiday, its mostly tradition. Like Christmas or Halloween or even Thanksgiving, traditions are made and companies help with the upholding of those traditions. Though Valentines day is a bit nicer since the tradition itself is cute. Giving a present to the person you like, finally confessing your feelings for someone, or an excuse for the shyer folks out there to be more bold and romantic. Though the past three years i've actually not had anyone that i'd feel inclined to celebrate with, so each year i end up buying a new figure on valentines day lol. Don't know which one i'll end up getting this year

Whats wrong with a daydedicated to celebrate being with your partner? If anything, it's an excuse to take him/her out and buy her something when you other wise might not feel the need to.

You should never feel the need because if you need an excuse to do so or to skip v-day then there's something wrong.

So, you gift your SO every day then?

I only give stuff to people when I feel like it, and I think that's how gifts should be done.

Okay, so we're in agreement. Since I guess my wording is somehow ambiguous; that is what I meant: i'll clarify.

If you haven't gifted him/her in a whie you might 'feel the need to'/'want to' do so. Valentines is a great reason/'excuse' to do so.
