It's always difficult posting and describing one's belief or disbelief on the internet, I find, because of the issue of cyber-bullying and discrimination that comes from anybody with access to an internet connection and a working computer. YouTube is a prime example of this; there are a number of people on there with nothing better to do than to tear into each other's religions and non-religions.

I say that people should be allowed to make peace with the universe in their own way, whether it is through an organized religion, an independent spiritual/theological development, or the secularization of the universe. It's when people think that this belief system puts them above everyone else that I feel the need to step in. Dogma is bad for everyone; all it does is make you look insane.

An aside:

._. Apparently this lesbian is also a Christian. Ironic isn't it?

Not necessarily; many scholars have argued that there is evidence to suggest that the Bible features stories and chapters that were in favour of homosexuality. Granted, the Leviticus chapter of The Bible spoke out against laying with someone of the same sex, but then again it also gave instructions for stoning your unruly daughter.

A Bible quote I read somewhere that I need to re-read and confirm goes something along the lines of "That which you outlaw in life shall be outlawed in Heaven, and that which you permit in life shall be permitted in Heaven." I'm not sure what the context was, and I'm not even sure I'm saying it properly, but either way I found it to be somewhat of an inspiring and almost postmodern verse.

But then again I'm not much of a Bible scholar; I should find the King James copy of The Proverbial Good Book and bone up on my theology before I make any calls in any direction.

=) actually, Christianity is completely against homosexuality. It was one of the few sins that was listed somewhere something like "men should never lie with another men" ._. or something along the lines of that.

and that was pretty straight forward that it is unacceptable for Christians to allow and/or practice homosexuality; and it was one of the sins.

as for the studies you have mentioned; about what the bible really feels about homosexuality. Those weren't clear "straight forward" theories and what not. So it cannot be used as "what the bible saids" sometimes people can misunderstand the bible (which happens often) and there are things in the bible which can mean one or another.

I'm agnostic for the most part. (Although I'm slowly converting to Shintoism) I don't care what you believe in, just please don't stuff it in my face. That's all I ask of people with religion.

I'm also slightly offended when for example, I yell Oh My God, if somebody asks me to not say God. I'm sorry, but that's their problem. I respect your religion and everything, but I'm not going to sheild myself for them.

I'm not saying that I don't understand where they're coming from, it just annoys me. I just think that people should learn to deal with it. I really don't like it when people call people and things gay, but I deal, why can't they?

Not all christian groups are against homosexuality since they interpret the Bible differently and many have been debating over the issues.
