So apparently the popular youtubers called The Fine Brothers are starting this new thing called React World. What this essentially does (From my understanding, mind you.) is allows people who wish to make react videos do so from their licensed show formats, giving them a slice of any profit from the video in return.

Now why, may you ask, would you do a react video through the Fine Brothers when you can make your own darned video and keep all the "money" you may or may not earn. You can, or at least you should, if the word "react" wasn't trademarked by them.

Since then, people have been voicing their opinions on the matter, and they haven't been very positive.

One person had a video removed that only had eight views. (NSFW)

Youtuber filmcow has also made a response to the video (while its very to the point its also NSFW.)

The only people who seem to be happy about this whole ordeal is Youtube itself, with YouTube’s VP of content partnerships Kelly Merryman stating:

“The Fine Brothers have been innovators on YouTube since day one, so it’s no surprise that they’ve created a unique way to expand the hugely popular ‘React’ series to YouTube audiences around the globe. This is brand-building in the YouTube age — rising media companies building their brands through collaborations with creators around the world.”

Oh hey, people on the internet are doing dumb stuff again.

Okay, so what exactly should I be mad about? It seems they're just branding a certain type of react video versus a simple "my reaction to this" videos.

This does seem to be on about the same level as patent farming/domain squatting, but much of the United States' legal system is basically designed to provide smooth sailing for these kind of people nowadays. I'd be pleasantly surprised to see this reversed, the battle for a free, open, and efficient Internet has essentially been all but lost at this point (if it was ever fought at all, which one would be seriously entitled to doubt).

I strongly encourage you to Google "patent farming". This is far from unprecedented, and what you imply that you fear may come has in fact been the status quo since well before you left the womb.
