When I was a kid, I was even weirder than I am now.

I made mummies, caught bugs all day, tried to invent new things all the time, dug for fossils, built little tombs, caught venomous snakes, read 20 books a week, enjoyed drinking wine, etc.

Now I'm just a boring adult who still thinks he's a kid.

Its same thing as watching Television, its part of your enjoyment. You didn't waste your life.

When I was a Kid.

I was excited to ride the Lawn Mower and cut grass for my Father's Friend in his back yard from the Bar.. He own the Bar and live there. The yard was huge, but didn't mind.

Used to walk everywhere with my Sister.. like very far XD.. When thinking about it I can't believed that we walk that far and walk back to the house. We couldn't depend on my Father because he was drunk 99% of the time and go to Bar.

Not really much to say about my childhood positively! XD

What do you mean "when I was" a kid?

As for me... Not much good can be stated about those days so I'll just say exchanging verbal blows with my father was a fun thing between us.

When I was a child, my parents used to send me to spend summer vacation at my grandparent's farm. It was a blast because all my cousins were also sent there for the summer so there were about 6 of us playing together. At first the farm didn't have a telephone and all the cooking was done on a wood stove, but after my grandparents retired, they installed a gas stove and eventually the phone company ran a line out the valley. You also couldn't tune in any radio stations or tv stations because of the hills in the area. My cousins and I had to help grandpa weed the gardens for a short time each day, but the rest of the day we'd play in the woods, go swimming in the creek, climb the hills and pick wild strawberries that Grandma would make into strawberry shortcake for supper, go fishing, and just generally have a lot of fun. You didn't really want to go inside because there was no air conditioning in the summer. But we'd climb up to my treehouse or the stone fort on the hill and if we got too hot we'd jump in the creek and cool off. My cousins are more like brothers and sisters even today.

It was totally different than anything my school friends did. They were all city raised.

That sounds wonderful. You're very fortunate to have such a great experience like that. My grandparents had a farm in Texas that always looked so fun and peaceful in photographs. Unfortunately, they were forced to sell before I was born, and so I never got to see it. Now there's nothing but construction in the area. My grandmother talked about making homemade sun tea and strawberry crumb cakes on hot days. She also went looking for my grandfather a few times, when he'd fallen asleep under an orchid tree somewhere along the property. Haha, anyway, glad you have those memories, they really do sound like the best of treasures.

When I was a child we city children got left with some family friends on another island for a week without family. There was a whole hillside of trees which looked like a tropical forest for us. We walked barefoot to the beach, wondered through the forest. We were kind of shocked that we had to go use and use a latrine at the far side of the garden or use a potty at night. The shower was at the far end of the garden too, alfresco, no shower curtain or pretty porcelain tiles just a bare concrete cubicle open to the elements and the shower was a bucket and a bowl. You had to carry that bucket that you filled up from the house taps out to the "shower". You had the view of the whole hillside watching you wash. I have to say that I just washed wearing my undies. They had an old outside mud oven that they used to bake enough bread for them and their neighbours. They saved the modern gas one one inside the kitchen for cake baking. I caught a feral cat. My little sister ate poison.

You're still a kid.

I was a strange girl. I probably still am, but on the subject of grandparents, my grandmother and I shared a corned beef sandwich at Two Jays on Thursday, she took me to the library at least once a week, and every first and third Friday of the month we went to the art festival in Lake Worth. Sometimes she took me to a private beach or a small dock just to goof around and try to catch those little mud crabs. She was lovely and we did everything together.
