I mean seriously they're letting a prestigious anime like this expire? What's going on over at Funi lately? It makes sense now that the original FMA and the movie suddenly arrived on blu-ray ,with a huge price reduction on the original one as well, at least on Amazon. I'm pretty sure my beloved Kanon is on the shit list next so I might as well buy it now.

FUNi isn't letting it go by choice as many in industry have stated Aniplex of Japan isn't allowing them to renew the license. Most are assuming that the show will eventually wind on CR and other streaming platforms.

I see. So something like dragon ball can't be affected, assuming it's not an Aniplex title?

Unless Toei decides to enter the US home video market DBZ will not be affected in anyway.

However as many are stating if you have an Aniplex title you enjoy and it is licensed by either Sentai/FUNi/NISA it is recommended you either watch them where they're available for streaming or purchase them. They're almost certain to meet the same fate as FMA:B, Baccano, and DtB have for FUNi.

I appreciate the insight, but there's one thing that's odd. Did funi completely surrender DtB because it was removed on their streaming service but now it's back but only the second season and 3 OVA's?

I hope CR picks up the streaming rights for FMA: Brotherhood after FUNimation's license expires

As far as I understand it season 1 and season 2 of DtB are entirely separate licenses of the same series. So they will expire at different times it just so happens the first seasons time is up.

Unfortunately for fans of these shows it unknown whether US fans will ever see another home video release. As if Baccano (blu-rays) and R.O.D TV are any indication Aniplex have no problem letting shows go OOP. AoA have also stated they have no interest in catalog titles and in the case of FMA, it may be too expensive for them to afford.

Darker Than Black and Air were both in my queue on Funi, but just disappeared so I have to find somewhere else to watch them. So glad I bought the FMA blue rays a few months ago off Amazon. At least now they are letting us know what titles they are losing instead of them just disappearing. So, does anyone have a list of Aniplex titles on Funi I should get to watching?

Okay, just bought FMA series on Blu-Ray was gonna wait on it but better buy it now since it's likely to disappear forever ( I hate you Aniplex)

Thank god several of my favourites are licensed by Kadokawa then.

Birdy the Mighty Decode is also an Aniplex title FUNi has which, going by the expiration date on Hulu (10/14/16), means it is likely on the chopping block, too.

Though not FUNi, NIS America has lost the rights of Wagnaria/Working Seasons 1 and 2, and AoA has already picked up Season 3. So, I'd expect to see those NISA sets OOP soon.
