Unfortunately for you, for Canada, CR recently changed it's policy for viewing catalog titles for non-premium members:
/forumtopic-935843/upcoming-changes-to-cr-free-streaming-in-canada

They have kept any simulcast episodes available for 13 weeks after they post, but any older completed series require premium membership there now.

Although, you should be able to see the latest 12 or so episodes... Seems like a bug if you can't. If your mature settings are corrected, then you may need to put in a ticket to support: /contact

Can anyone direct me to the APK? The one I'm trying to sideload onto my Fire TV is in portrait mode and it's a pita to use.

I just installed the app on my nexus player. no way to tell if this is 720p or 1080p and no way to change it. It seems it's 720p.

Crunchyroll, please update.

Please add functionality for changing the size (and possibly a couple options for their appearance) of the subtitles, e.g., Small, Medium, Large. They are frustratingly large as-is. Also allow us to switch between the various video qualities from the player, please, so that we can more easily tell if it's actually in 1080p and just has a terrible encoding, or if it even exists as 1080p. At the very least list the available best quality for the media and make certain the player tries to stream at the best possible quality. I mean, in most cases I would just want it to be at 1080p (and I've set the video preferences here on the site to default to 1080p, though I'm uncertain if that carries over to the app), or well.. if possible in the future, 4K wouldn't be a bad thing for Premium users to be honest. If I'd need to upgrade to a Premium+ plan, I'd be willing to do that for 4K.

Also may I suggest that you work a bit on the app assets? The app design is overall fairly nice and clean, it works, but the assets are semi-terribly low resolution. It doesn't look crisp and smooth on a 4K TV, which detracts a bit from the experience. Adding Suggestions, Newly Added and such on the Home screen wouldn't be a bad idea either. Take inspiration from apps such as the one for Netflix perhaps? The way our national TV network here in Norway, NRK, does it with their app, is fairly well executed;

— It's in norwegian, but the UI is simple and clean. Top option says Recommended.

Additionally, there's a missed opportunity for adding more details to the various shows on offer. Such as information on when the next episode is slated for release. The website has these details, it even counts down to releases (that low resolution graphic of the crunchyroll logo is a problem here on the website too though), so why not in the app? It doesn't need a countdown timer necessarily, but at least some minor details on when the new episodes are coming would be nice. Again, the national TV network here in Norway, NRK, does this fairly well with their app;

— Episode 6:10, Available 18. Juli 22:29

They also need to do some work with their app presentation. They too lack the subtitle options I'd like to see and have ridiculously large ones at the bottom of the screen. But I do appreciate that they let me know, in the app, when I can expect a new episode to be available. Perhaps the Crunchyroll app can get some love on that front too? You could list a greyed out box with the show graphic greyed out inside it, like on the site more or less, and list the date of the next episode in it. I know I can look it up here on the site, but I went Premium because I want to enjoy Crunchyroll on my TV set. I'd prefer getting as much functionality there as possible, and rather have Community options available to me here.

Edit/PS: I recommend that the Forum applies size tags to embedded images, as I noticed mine were massively oversized for the layout and broke it, until I went over to Imgur and edited them smaller.

This is more of a notification for you guys before Android N gets released. I know I'm running a beta firmware fight nowm

Since code has finalized, does it work? I tried it around beta 2 or 3 and i reverted since I couldn't live without it ^^;

My Crunchyroll app just broke on my Nexus Player after the device just got the Nougat update.

I am holding off on the Nougat update on my Pixel C in fear it may break the Crunchyroll app I have on it.

Like others, my Nexus player updated itself and now the Crunchyroll app no longer works, guess it's time to cancel my subscription

Damn you auto-updated my crunchy is dead right now. @Crunchyroll, do we have an ETA when this issue will be resolved?

For what is worth, Crunchyroll App no longer works on my Nougat Nexus Player.

However, I have experienced zero problems with Crunchyroll app on my other devices updated with Nougat, including the Pixel C.

So it would seem that Crunchyroll app and Nougat do not mix when dealing with Android TV devices, but has no issue with regular Android devices....

It's probably an easy fix with permissions or something, just having no response is the really irritating part. I just ended up adding the Kodi add-on which works really well.
