any sword covered in carbon nanotube is extremely powerful and nearly unbreakable.
carbon nanotube is one of the strongest material - supposedly >= 117 times stronger than steel and 30 times stronger than Kevlar.
in theory, not even a gun would be able to break such a sword.
they are also very light, and would barely add to the weight of the sword.

Well, clearly, you twine branches of ash around the sword, sprinkle pigs blood over it, tap gently on it two times with a polished carnelian pebble, and utter the following incantation over a campfire "Starkīni swērį̄; starkīni sēid. Kwetwą fijandi; fijaþauz," to the goddess of war. The sword is then incapable of being broken, and will cut through anything that you so desire.

While tungsten is the best in terms of affordablity and strength balance. Carbon fiber would be better in strength and lighter, but would still probably be a fair amount more expensive to produce than a tungsten blade.

Maybe because the katana is a staple in material science literature.. so pretty much the point of this topic?

Depends on the wielder, and desired targets. Bottom line is; no one sword is perfect for everyone and every situation. Would you give a two-handed and slashing sword, like katana, to a one-armed man who is about to face heavy-armored knight? A man who isn't even comfortable with the sword handle, battle style, and aesthetics? This is highly unlikely to end well.

Diamonds are overpriced.

they are the one of the rarest gems around so makes sense.... whatever if I made a sword out of diamonds, then it would be awesome because that 7 million dollar price tag would make it some sort of mythical weapon.

Diamond is very hard, but far to ridged. It would shatter under a sudden blow.

Give me Shieldbreaker in one hand and Changling in the other.
