I have noticed as technology grew. People have begun to socialize less and less in person. 2 years at my college, and every semester it's the same thing. People sitting on their phones(let's be honest, the majority are on it just to be on it) never talking. Nobody really talks before class, forget group discussions in class, or even after. It's kind of disappointing to think the social aspect of college seems to be dead.

Your thoughts?

People should only blame themselves for their lack of social skills/involvement in person. Technology is convenient but using it as an excuse is nothing more than a cop out.

Professors still have 2 years to throw you in several groups for group projects. Then you get to learn how fun it is to "socialize" and do their work for them else your own grade would suffer and the professors don't give a crap. All the classes I attended in college were all very loud and I could even hear them through my over-the-ear headphones. College isn't time to socialize, I took myself serious in college and got a job by my sophomore year in the field of my major.

Good luck convincing those same ones there is a social life outside of facebook. If you only saw what I have been seeing. It was not like this at all back when I was in high school.

Tech hasn't cut people off, It gives more options.
It seems more likely to me that people choose to be self centred and the fact that there's money being made suggests this is common.

Just because I'm a social outcast and also program and stuff like that doesn't mean they are correlated, right? Right?!

Even the teachers say things like "10 years ago these classrooms used to be loud because of all the conversations going on"

I'm not sure it's them being self centered, maybe idk. You have to bring them into the conversation. The way I get people talking is to talk the girls first. Then slowly bring in 1 or 2 guys. But if It gets people talking I suppose it works. What kills me is people seem to require an incentive to talk.

I do agree that technology has made it more possible for people from farther places to connect at the same time though I enjoy watching people interact with each other and it's no fun if everyone walks around like mindless zombies uttering phooone... where's my phooone?

Yeah it's cool we can reach people from around the world and all. But, it's not really "socializing" if it's not face to face ya know? Even the teachers are making snarky remarks about the obsession with phones.

does it matter? we don't need that socialization...

when i goto college i don't go to talk with people i go to learn if people want to speak to me then fuck them i'm busy.

I hate interacting with people as socialization is tiring since you need to play a guessing game with peoples body language and they get pissed off if you misread it that and its tiring in general.

The only socialization i will happily do is by text otherwise if i don't know you well i don't want to talk to you.

I wish i could have to go without talking to people face to face for a year or more that would be bliss <3

I hate talking face to face and never will like it most of the time socialization is a waste of time and only something people do because they are more social animals then some of us are (introverts and Autistic people we don't need much socialization and can get the same effect via text)

I like how it is now

You and I normally agree on most things. But this time my old CR friend, I must disagree. Humans were meant to socialize.

Not all humans are the same.

Most are meant to socialize however some of us could go our whole life only socializing via text and only find socializing to be draining instead of revitalizing like it is to most people.

Humans that aren't social and find it to be a chore do exist i'm one of them
