The earth would be overrun by flora, fauna, and nature. If we disappeared, things simply would revert back to their state before man, and the forces would reclaim the land as their own, eventually degrading man's fortified structures down to their bases, and their numerous belongings and wastes, after thousands to millions of years of erosion, pressure, etc.

There was once a special I watched about what'd happen if we all just vanished: Life After People. It's got pretty awesome sequences that simulate what the environment would start to look like if one day humanity was wiped.

Even if we didn't exist, nature would just continue on without us. Albeit, it would have an easier time doing so this time around.

Humans only came into existence approximately 20,000-30,000 years ago.

So we haven't existed for 4.6 million years since the birth of the Earth. Like someone said above, this planet would have been better off without intelligent humans.

I like the theory that organisms help regulate the climate of the planet to make it habitable for all living things. However, humans are the only species that pollute the environment and cause drastic climate change. The denial is even worse, "We don't have the ability to change a planet's climate"... Oh yeah, like the smog in China is there by itself and the hole in the ozone just happened by itself.

Things would fill its niche or at least part of its niche.
If humans were to disappear to day, most of our stuff would decay into nothingness. Ironically, the stuff that would persist over time would be ancient stone-based structures like the pyramids. If some alien race were to come into contact with earth 3000 years after humans magically disappeared, that's the only records they would have of us and would think we probably only advanced that far.
