How is your life outside of Internet? Do you meet each other outside of Internet?

I'll update the post if need to.

If thread like this exist let me know

I have family and a job, so I think of the internet acquaintance as possible a friend until I meet them in person, but never until in person. I need to see a persons eyes first. If I can't catch a glimmer of the real person, then they can't be my friend. Words over a head set or on a page do not a friend make....at least for this crusty old man.

I've skyped with a few. Worst decision in my life.

But really haven't met anyone I've talked to on CR. But it will be interesting...

Haven't met anyone from CR. Not that I'm aware of at least. Met plenty of people I've gamed with over the years though. A gaming community I belong to has yearly meet ups and takes a week long vacation with the group. It's pretty cool. Meet some... Interesting people of all sorts of variety lol. They've been around for quite some time.

It's the opposite, I barely know anyone online except for a friend or two in CR.

I do have a life outside of the internet but I've never met someone IRL that I've met online first.

I've met a good chunk of my friends that I've made online in person before. Taken vacations to go visit some of them, some I've met at conventions (one of them actually works for a company that I now staff the booth of every year at ACen).

This year at ACen actually a long time friend is someone I'm finally meeting in person after we've both talked about it for years. We've known each other online since we were in high school (well over a decade ago), and we've been pretty intertwined in each others' lives since then - started out on dA, then through Myspace, Facebook, Steam, Skype, you name it. It's hilarious to think how many of my friends I've known for much longer I've met first. I feel like there are only a handful left I need to meet in person, a couple I probably won't have a chance to because they're in other countries, but some I might because they're closer. A friend in Canada keeps talking about coming and visiting so hopefully I'll meet her soon too, I don't know.

But I feel like it's a really fun thing to meet people you talk to often online in person. And it's not like people can just not be friends because it's over distance or internet or whatever, either. We're so connected these days through cell phone data plans, Facebook, gaming communities, and video services like Skype that while it's easy to fake being someone else in the short term, if you know them for any amount of time then you get to really know the person behind the avatar because it's just so easy to.
