Now that I think of it, it could be possible the man was just trying to be considerate of the alligator by trying to feed it as quickly as possible. It just happened that Wendy's was the closest fast-food restaurant. After the man realized that alligators shouldn't eat junk food, he tried playing it off as a prank.

You're right, fast food employee wouldn't gone straight to his thighs.

Wilderness and Environmental Medicine Journal, Volume 21, Issue 2, from 2010 has one of the more recent articles on "Adverse Encounters with Alligators in the United States. According to this, "There have been 567 reports of adverse encounters with alligators with 24 deaths reported in the United States from 1928 to January 1, 2009. In addition, thousands of nuisance calls are made yearly and the number of nuisance calls as well as the alligator population is increasing in many states."

Reading the full article tells you that basically most of the people bitten, scratched, or otherwise attacked by gators are young males who were teasing or otherwise messing with the gator. Also that many of the incidents are alcohol or other drug related.

I agree with Dariamus, I'm sorry for the alligator.

This thread, so full of win.

But I'm surprised there's been no Archer reference yet...
