So a woman who has disabled comments on her videos, pleaded with the UN to censor the internet, & sends her minions to harass anyone who argues with her on Twitter is now in charge of policing free speech?

So, what's the big deal about her?

She's a "feminist" who pretty much have gone on record saying the most stupid things out there.

Here's a video you can watch about her

And here's a video about this entire thing

Sarkeesian is a total nutcase. I've read a lot of her stuff and listened to her talk and 80% of what she spews is pure BS.

It would be so much simpler to teach people to toughen up and deal with it. Our ancestors survived great natural disasters, braved the elements, hunted with primitive weapons, developed civilization, committed many atrocities and, in turn, suffered much. And now the culmination of these human achievements are whiny brats who think reading something will hurt them so much? What the hell, dude.

I suppose intentional and severe online harassment is, indeed, undesirable, but letting this nutcase be in charge of basically deciding what's offensive and what's not is a recipe for disaster.

Although Twitter isn't saying straight out that they're censoring, just that they wish to provide an online environment free of what is essentially cyber bullying, Sarkeesian is not the person for the job. This is like saying you want people to be healthy and safe so you're hiring someone who openly and strongly advocates locking everyone in sterile padded rooms and fed a liquid diet through tubes to be in charge of your project.

I don't use twitter in the first place, but I will say this. Feminism needs to find a way to universally re-define itself so that all the women that follow it can be happy because right now it's like split into three camps and the people that lead each one seem to make the internet and a lot of other things sound worse off then they are. Not that their opponents don't do this too, but you really can't police the internet completely. You can't and that's because its a conglomerate of different companies, governments, and nations. Each one is going to want to have a say in what's right and wrong for their own groups.

Twitter empowers every voice to shape the world.

I've no doubt Twitter likes to think so about themselves, but they actually just empower every voice to impotently argue with any other voice within such restrictive margins of character limitation as to leave no chance of anything important being said on one side or other. It's hardly a surprise that people like Sarkeesian, who are accomplished at barking sentimental tweet-sized slogans but not at making any real points, are the ones winning recognition over there. If the site shut down for good tomorrow, nothing of value would have been lost, however much butthurt may ensue. Sure, it can facilitate on-site reporting of in-progress news stories (rarely to any useful effect), but any microblogging service can do that much.

I'd actually say I welcome this news; it's not as though Twitter was worth using before this happened anyway, and as they keep doing things like this, maybe more and more people will begin to realize that their site is no place for non-retards to be hanging out.

Sarkeesian herself is actually slightly less disgusting if you look into her background a bit and realize that she almost definitely does not personally believe any of the shit she's talking about, but was just some woman who realized the lucrativeness of roping in Internet white knights, and crafted a character/ideology to play act in order to accomplish this — behold: https://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/2koifk/what_does_anita_sarkeesians_endorsement_of/. And here is what she did for money a few years before her current scam: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2005/01/prweb197342.htm; basically, giving seminars on a phrenology-esque method of systematically psychoanalyzing people through their handwriting. There is not a chance in hell, in my opinion, that this woman actually cares about any of the things she claims to nowadays.

Some bitch irrelevant woman that needs to be gone.

No you were right with the word bitch actually I can think of a few stronger words to describe her.
Sarkeesian is a giant reason why feminism can be seen as a joke she is literally a feminazi and ignorant at everything she says.
If anyone watched her bayonetta review it would take 20 seconds in for her to lose any credibility you think she may have had.
God she is fucking vile as is her cameraman. She is type of bitch that would go up to a 3 yr old and say he's going to be a rapist one day while complaining about Fallout 4 and Bayonetta despite never having played the fucking game while talking about more entertaining popular and funnier legit youtube reviewers who just happen to be male.
This gives me another reason to not use twitter.

Instead of all this feeling saving BS, why don't they just not allow people who are easily offended onto the internet? Seems much easier.

Every time I point out to people that censorship like this is spreading, that it's getting worse, and that it flows from government regulators threatening the pass YES ANOTHER UNNEEDED LAW the people I talk to say "you're overreacting, this is just business / being respectful."

If the person is PC, then they think it's "respectful" to censor speech to remove offensive things. It always starts with offensive and obscene things because, despite having no clear universal definition, most people agree "that stuff needs to go." Of course, it never ends there and it always get expanded, just like government expands laws to encompass things they were never meant to encompass. And it's easy to do because you're just linking the new restriction to the old one. Basically, it's "if you're not on board with this, then you're one of THOSE people."

If a person is less liberal, then they think it's "just business" and that it makes sense for businesses to censor some speech in order to keep customers happy. Except, universally, censorship tends to result in LESS customers and a rise in unhappiness with a service because there is no shared standard for what should and should not be censored. Any business, website, or other organization that starts out with minimal or no censorship that then moves toward more restriction will inevitably LOSE people, not gain them. The motivation is never about business unless the company is confusing loud SJWs with actual customers.

Basically, both sides agree to censor and both are brain damaged in my opinion.

The only logical form of censorship is some warning before you get into things the majority of people recognize might be a problem for the majority of people. That's typically meant violent content, pornographic content, and foul language. What was wrong with just those? They are a minimal standard that's relatively easy to enforce and straight forward. If society insists on some level of restriction, then why not this one alone?

Once we get into censoring ideological speech because it's "offensive" we have reached a point where we have some governing body, whether it is officially a state institution or unofficially serving the state, that dictates what society should think and feel about everything.

Why can't people learn the lessons of Robocop 2 and stop trying to manipulate us like this?

Why can't people realize that being able to insult each other is actually a valuable part of free speech?

It's really not. It's just a bunch of butch looking women who get offended by the white man.
