Yeah my high school did, fuck if I knew anything they did. I was too busy beating the living hell out of homophobic boys and girls to notice much else.

Yes, I didn't know many of the people on it well at first but ended up being friends with most of them by the end of my senior year. My older sister (2 grades ahead) was on the student council when I was a freshman and sophomore and I had to stay with her when she had to do something for it once or twice because she was my ride home and I helped make some posters.

I was Student Council President. Out of a school of 2200 students I won by 16 votes in a runoff, and managed to make my opponent's girlfriend cry in the process. My duties mostly consisted of yelling at my council to do their work, and skipping class to get freakishly good at Mario Golf 64 in my office. Whenever I was walking to the podium to give a speech I had the tech guys play the Imperial March. Good times...

We tried to form one and it ultimately dissolved. When your class generally consists of about 100 people, 150 tops, there's not much reason for one.

Yeah there was a student council at the boarding academy I attended. Here's the official description of what they do from the website:

*********Begin Quote***************
Students have the privilege of holding many positions of leadership on campus. Some positions are by student election, others are appointed by the faculty. Holding a student office is an honor requiring responsibility. The Student Association officers organize a wide variety of campus-wide events. Class officers organize and lead within their class. Student Senators provide representation for student groups. Boys’ Club and Girls’ Club officers function through the dorms. National Honor Society, some music groups, and certain campus publications offer titled leadership positions.

These organizations provide opportunities for students to develop skill and abilities in leadership such as building consensus and negotiating resolutions to problems. Planning, organizing, and executing activities develops proficiencies that students can build on as they assume greater leadership roles and challenges in later life.
************End Quote*************

Most of what they did was plan the various banquets and other social type events we had at the school. These would include the Handshake and ice cream social at the beginning of the year to welcome new students, the Costume Party & Hayride & bonfire in the fall, three or four banquets throughout the year (pick a theme, dress up in formal clothes, take your date to the cafeteria and a movie in the gym), the caroling of the dorms at the first snowfall, etc.

Yep, I don't think there was really a purpose in it though... they didn't do much, most of the say was in the yearbook group.

yeah we did, but only a few people knew who they were. we voted for them because it was forced on us. i have no idea what they did though.

It's never like anime.

Yeah, and I was on it. It basically worked as a social planning committee--nothing like the exaggerated ones you see in anime.
