Bastard!!! - towards the last like 20-30 chapters it becomes like TTGL where they just keep one-upping each other.

Ok, adding another one as possibly the worst and disgusting one. Tokyo Akazukin, don't read it if you have morals.

The title is really long & I had to copy and paste this: Umareru Kachi no Nakatta Jibun ga Anna no Tame ni Dekiru Ikutsuka no Koto. Psychological.
Was just looking through random manga and found this piece of work. Noped out really fast on this one.

Another one is Boku wa Mari no Naka. Same genre and somewhat creepy, but apparently it gets better...? But I couldn't really finish lol.

Aku no Hana comes to mind first. I liked it at first, but the longer it goes on, the more arbitrary the actions of the main characters seem - they present it as something deep and complex, but never really deliver on explaining it satisfactorily. I came out of it more than a little annoyed.

Uzumaki's another one, but I rather like all the weirdness in that one. Don't get me wrong, it's got its fair share of problems (the characters are all super flat and the dialogue and plot always seem forced), but it's hard to tell whether or not that's intentional given its genre. What it does well is presenting increasingly bizarre and horrific events with an interesting central motif, and the ending makes for a nice culmination to it all. It feels very much like a cheesy old horror movie, but it's an eminently creative one with a lot of flair, despite its frankly terrible characters and dialogue.

Some works aren't meant to be explained though. Some times you have to think for yourself, with the small amount of dialogue and expressions you get. I personally loved Aku no hana almost all the way through (A little slow after the first climax) and it's still my favorite manga after years ^^

My problem isn't having to think for myself - I rather like stories that make me do that. My problem is that the conclusions that the author seems to want me to draw just aren't enough to justify the behaviour of the characters, in my mind.

I'll be the first to allow that there's likely some sort of cultural or psychological point of reference I'm missing that provides needed context, but being outside of that point of reference (and thus outside of the target audience), the whole thing came across as shallow to me. I'm not saying I think it's bad, I'm just saying that I didn't like it, because the themes it tackles don't resonate with me.

Korean Webtoon, but yes it actually exists.

Of course, there are a lot of really bizarre Korean webtoons out there, and most of them are pretty awful (bad writing, bad endings, offensive content), so this isn't all that surprising.
