Bank your sick time and convert it to vacation and enjoy your downtime. Or are you a 12/12 not 9/12?

9/12 employee. 9 out of 12 months. Or are you a 12/12? Think year around school. Or do you mean the sick time/vacation swap? That depends on contract.

I enjoy my work that I do as a software developer, and I've been employed since graduating from college. Could I see myself working somewhere else? Sure, but that's probably true for anyone.

Oh yeah, non-government, should switch over to a teaching gig for the state, some places are begging for teachers.

Begging, but are they willing to pay a half-decent salary? That was always the issue when I was in high school.

Don't believe the teachers crying about not making money. They make money hand over fist, most of the issue now is most teachers can't plan for their downtime so they spend all their 9 month money in 6 months and can't figure out how to make it through summer. And the bennies are INSANE. When you hear a teacher saying how they only earn 40K a year, don't forget that it is for only working 180 days, and they don't include the bennies, which tacks on another 15 to 27K.

It's specific to the district the schools fall in, but during my time in school I don't think many were making more than 30K in a year total. A family friend who is a teacher specifically chose a district that was further away because the salaries in the closer district were not enough to pay a mortgage.

Schools in the states are independent (hence called Independent School Districts), and therefore salaries can vary wildly.

How much they earn is public record, look it up for yourself and see how much they make!

I have two jobs, and there's one I don't like because even though it allows me to work just on the weekends, I get the lowest pay available and no breaks sometimes, but I like my coworkers! But I am looking for a new one (mostly for better pay), I'll probably quit once summer comes.

My other job is weekdays (just started 3 weeks ago), and it's an office job that pays more than the other one. And it's related to my major, so that's a plus. And I only work with 1-2 other people at a time, and I love my supervisor. So that one I'm keeping lol

I miss my bakery job though, but I used to be an assistant and the head baker was replaced with this two faced old hag... I couldn't stand her. And she couldn't stand me, because she liked people kissing up to her ass and they did absolutely nothing productive. So good luck with that

I love my job as a network engineer! My company has great benefits, my coworkers are awesome and I get to live and work downtown (I'm a city person). I am growing tired of living in the south though so I'm hoping to transfer to our LA, Chicago or Seattle office within the next couple months.
