There are plenty of other circumstances, but that's hardly the point. When someone surprises someone by jumping out saying "Boo!" it hardly presents an actual danger, but it still startles peoples. Some fears are based on irrational thought and instinct.

No. However, it's a different story if I wake up in the middle of the night and there's one in the middle of my living room just standing there. That would be pretty creepy I guess. But seeing them at the mall doesn't bother me.
