I am not a doctor but I used to get nosebleeds that lasted a long time frequently (though I don't think I ever had one for an hour!

For me the key was moisture. So, if it seems that might be a cause for you, use a humidifier when the air is dry (frequently the case indoors when the heat is on), and dab some vaseline (or a bit of chapstick) just inside your nostrils regularly.

You can get treatment to reduce nosebleeds. A substance (an acid IIRC) is applied inside your nose to kill off a few of the small veins in there. It's fairly painless and harmless--I've had it.

I've considered getting that treatment done myself. I get fairly regular nosebleeds in the winter months due to the cold and dry air.
As lorreen suggested, humidifiers and vaseline were both useful stopgaps in my case.

That the OP's nosebleeds are so long is somewhat unusual. Are you trying to blow your nose to clear it when it happens? Try following the steps here and see if that helps to at least shorten the duration of your nosebleeds.
