Can't help it sometimes.
Usually not username, but if the profile pic is furry-like or loli-like then it's kind of hard not to make assumptions.

I only notice when they put it as hentai or something. Other than that I don't really pay attention.

I never thought of doing it. It's probably hard to judge mine?

I usually try to guess who it is in their avatar, but other than that I don't judge in either any malevolent or benevolent manner.Unless I see the user is some 44 year old guy whose profile picture is some creepily seductive image of an obviously far too young anime girl. Then i'm like, "damn you, negative anime fan stereotypes". Nearly everyone I have met on here has been a pretty cool, fairly "normal" person. And that's the real anime fan base. But somehow middle aged, trench coat with fedora wearing complete social outcasts have been the mainstream face of anime fans for a while now. I don't even tell a lot of people in real life that I'm a massive anime fan, because even some of my über-progressive friends still think of anime as this niche thing, & anime fans have some weird sort of fetish. I just want the entire planet to take a seat & watch Steins;Gate .Anyone who watches that & still refuses to admit to the creative & cultural properties & relevance of anime is either ashamed that they enjoyed it, bringing up deep-rooted issues, forcing them to confront said issues because they witnessed first hand what it's like to see your world & ideals burn & crumble to the ground before you, & admitting they were wrong would force them to completely reevaluate their life... either that or they would realize there's nothing weird about anime, they just don't like it.

Somewhat.

You can sort of tell what kind of anime/manga someone is into by their picture, name, and/or profile info.

I guess I don't fit this bill since my avatar is never an anime character but always a favorite musician.
