178 days straight.

332 days that year.

And I will never do that again, since I was audited from the IRS that year.

When I worked for an architectural manufacturing firm (eons ago) the norm was 70 hour work weeks. Being a fresh new hire I couldn't understand why my seniored co-workers didn't like the overtime until I received my paycheck. I was expecting a $900+ boost in my check balance; however, the only difference in net pay after pre-tax deducts compared to a normal 40-hour week was $100.

Oh, but you'll get it back. It will arrive in the form of your next income tax refund. Tax refund came and went. It wasn't there. My take from working uber hours overtime if you're working for someone else........no incentive, you're burning your candle at both ends before total burnout. Do your self a favor: Go self-employment route, immediately.

There was no getting away from that job either during vacation. Some people can compartmentalize and get away from work without a care in the world about the next project, next day field work, etc. the minute they leave the company parking lot. Others like me aren't so fortunate. We took the work home in our head. The last vacation I had working for this firm was so work-intensive it took me 11 of the 14 days I took off to finally unwind.

When I went back to driving big rigs (someone else's this time, not mine) full-time I learned I was more suited for that line of work than office work. Yeah, I didn't have the fancy job title and the plush surroundings but at the end of a 3-week outing my head was clear the moment I left that company's employee parking lot. My time was my time, not embroiled solving some project overflow.

The longest stretch I've worked was probably a good 30 days or so.

The longest hours I've worked consecutively was 19, delivering furniture...

Was deployed to Iraq for 13 months, managed to take leave for two weeks after 7 months and then went back for the next 6. So that was about 240 days, knew some guys who didn't even take leave and served the whole 13 and others who only had 5 months back then went back to serve another deployment.

The longest was a two week push, 14 days Monday thru Sunday, by a manager on a project that had to be ready by the end of two weeks. It was a high priority. When the day came, I was told it was no longer a priority and the project was canned. Waste of my dedication and skills but I did get extra pay for those extra hours. Pay was in the form of additional vacation time.

I've worked 365 days a year since 2008. It was only last year that I was given 2 days off for Christmas day and New Year's. This year I will get 5 holidays off.

I couldn't even begin to figure out how many days straight, but I know it was quite a few months. I held two part time retail jobs for a while but they were both giving me full time hours because of different circumstances.
