I'm a huge fan of Wandering Sons on Crunchyroll. That show has helped me get so many of my friends into anime, as evidence that anime can handle subject of gender and sexuality maturely. However, some of these same people refuse to use crunchyroll due to gender having only Male and Female options. In other words, we have to choose between 2 sexes, Male and Female, and people who are intersexed or non-binary gender identities end up being unable to display their gender as a result. The website does give the option of not listing gender, but considering how huge a part of people's identity gender is, making people have to choose between not listing their gender and listing a sex identity that may not even apply to them seems like a cruel dilemma, especially considering the prevalence of non-binary, intersex and transgender people within the anime community.

So TLDR; please either add an "Other" option for gender, or just add a box where people can type in their gender identity so that the website is more inclusive for an already significantly discriminated against minority.

There was a user a few months ago who would write "non-binary" on their status.
I think it was a simple solution for their problem.

I changed my status based on your suggestion. Still seems like a workaround that wouldn't be necessary if the option was integrated into the website directly. Trans people and intersex make up a significant amount of the population (just trans identified people were last measured to be 5 in every thousand people of those surveyed back in 2009.)

I should have the ability to list my gender identity as 'dragon'. This is an absolute travesty against our kind!

OH THE UNPRECEDENTED HORROR! WHAT BLATANT SEXISM THIS WORLD DISPLAYS AGAINST US DRAGONS!!!

I can't exist like this. Crunchyroll, how dare you not accept every kind of manifestation our world has to offer? What terrible disregard for our beholden identities!

The Site Support forums are really not the place for that kind of sarcastic ridiculing of another user's feedback to CR.

I think the suggestion that CR expand its available options for this field is a good one. It's one of the first things I contacted CR about after I joined as well. While I was glad they did at least allow the field to be blank, it would have been nice to go a bit beyond that.

Permafry, I'm actually moving this over specifically to the Suggestions/Feedback forum. Another thing I've seen some users do is leave the Gender field blank and fill in the Location field as "X / whateverlocation" -- in the forums this gives the appearance of having put an X (or other letter of your choice) in the Gender field.
