i've been watching naruto since it came out in toonami till present day. (10yrs ago.)

But i never got into anime (anime's)

after a few episodes one piece came out but, ridiculous amount of episodes came out and got side track
and stopped watching it.

One day after 9yrs.

i decided too watch AoT because ppl said it was good. (in retrospect : i would keep scrolling it over netflix)

so i watched it in crunchyroll (liked it)

after i watched "bryhindrle in the darkness"

and so on........

So each new title i see, I never try to imagine its some rip off of another show.

each show has its unique difference. no matter if i watch dark, phycological, romance, shonen, comedy, kawaii ect..

ITS ANIME IN GENERAL .

so when you criticize your friends shows your really saying is. " "

empty words because you haven't watched.

within each show i watch i never say it going to be like this.. (fun fact: and the perspective of how you saw the title image changes)

What?

I have no idea what you were trying to say in that post, but having a valid opinion isn't pointless.

The problem with not knowing how to write English in a coherent way is no one knows what the heck you're trying to say.

I get what your saying, but no offence, it's a stupid point and argument

Most of my friends don't know I watch anime. But I learned my mistake when I tried to tell a friend that the stuff she watched was bad because she unwittingly slipped some gifs my way. It turned out to be a really funny show and I liked it afterall...... Open minds are good minds.

Your "don't knock it until you try it" advice is great and all if you're dealing with casuals who turn up their noses at most anime in general. But a lot of us here are true Otaku scum who have watched hundreds upon hundreds of series. When you have a breadth of knowledge on a subject, there's nothing wrong with trying to discern what is or isn't quality. Even though reviews by nature are highly subjective, we are the best equipped people to be making them.

So if I think something is garbage, I don't think its a terrible thing to let other people know that as well. Even though it's an opinion based on personal taste, it's likely going to be an opinion that's at least somewhat informed.

Badness isn't a trait, it's a flaw!

I tried Sword Art Online and it was terrible. Only reason it got so much love is because it's super easy to self-insert into an empty shell of a Gary Stu protagonist.

Incidentally it has the same things in common with most of the shounen anime that gets super popular.

They are in a world the viewer really likes, and there are characters that are easy to self-insert into imagine yourself as.

Unfortunately (for me) I need an actual good plot, character development and I really can't stand idiotic protagonists who are inexplicably stronger than anyone else.

And please, no Deus ex machina...

AoT has similar traits with SAO. Easy to self-insert and all that.

But jeez it has some of the worst pacing I've seen, and the quality in both story & animation really takes a dive at times. That said, I'm still curious on how the story will progress - but it is way overrated (in my opinion).

Naruto suffers from similar problems, and especially because of the dreadful fillers. I actually watched Naruto years ago, but gave up when I realised the plot was moving at a snail's pace and the episodes was littered with meaningless fillers.

In point of fact, you (OP)'re posting on the idea that "Just because I'm a Naruto fan who never watched any other anime series, except for a couple of One Piece and AoT episodes other fan said I should watch because they were on CN and Netflix, doesn't mean that we should hate anime".
If you would canvas some of the opinions around here, you'd find the sentiments are quite the reverse--Tell us, what do you think the fan term "Narutard" MEANS?

Hint: So it took you 10 years to discover that "other" anime shows besides the one you watched on TV are good too. And posted it on the forum for a streaming site where the regulars enjoy hundreds of current and classic series available.
Right now, I'm looking for some variation on "Freakin' TOOK you long enough!!" that truly delves into expressing the reaction of most here.

i think i get what OP is saying

don't hate other anime because each one has a unique difference, and don't view each anime based on other anime you have seen. also, "Don't hate an anime you haven't even watched," is what i understand in that last part...

well, one can argue on those points but ... saying one "shouldn't" hate other anime is kinda silly, since a lot of people hate a lot of anime and don't care if they should or should not

Well

If you like it, you like it.

If not, it's your problem.

Personally I only hate 2 anime and it's my problem to get used to hate comments from those who loved it.
