I was once called a nauseating disappointment who should have been drowned at birth.
So I said,"Geez, mum, that's a bit harsh"

As for the OP's question I've been called a number of things over my lifespan. The only time I am really confused is when they feel the need to insult me in a language I don't speak. I mean what's the point of insulting me if you don't have the balls to say it in a language the person your insulting verbally understands. I find Russians and Hispanics are the most likely to do this, I don't know if it's cowardice or a lack of understanding English but it always leaves me a bit confused.

As a spanish speaker, it could be that insults in spanish have a stronger connotation than english, at least for me. I don't feel nothing when I say "motherfucker" or " son of a bitch" but I can feel my anger from deep within when I say "ese hijo de puta!", "ese idiota hijo de la gran puta", "puta malparida!" or "pendejo de mierda!" etc. In my case, it's neither a lack of understanding or cowardice, it's just that insulting in english sounds so weak

Meh, it's is even weaker when you have to hand me a Spanish to English dictionary so that I understand what the hell ya just called me. Unless you really just want everyone to assume every word of Spanish coming out of your mouth is an insult.

Besides the point isn't to feel anything personally it's to make the other person feel something, usually anger.

I don't really remember because if insults confuse me I void them from my mind but the ones that are offensive I do a nice counter attack combo and then the other person usually comes and feels sad and apologies.

Since it's a mouthful to say it probably just feels more personal. Since the English equivalents are usually just one word.

That's the point if you are fighting with the person face to face but other times the point is to express yourself. In this case, I took your post as someone who simply insulted you and walked away. Also, we can do it without thinking because duh! spanish is our main language. You're probably not bilingual or not know fluently a second language and speak it every day because this is normal in bilingual/multilingual people.

It's easy to know when someone is insulting you even if you don't know the language unless you're so dense. The tone is the key here so, nope! I don't want everyone to assume that every word that comes out of my mouth is an insult when I speak spanish, just like you knew they were insulting you so you can distinguish the tones.

Exactly! it feels more personal...you got it!

...then again, everything in spanish seems a mouthful compared to english.

Mate I speak four languages fluently and can get by in three more. Spanish is admittedly not one of them but meh. Point is I want my target to understand every single word I am insulting them with. A angered opponent is a lot easier to take down regardless of what medium the fight is taking place, be it the arena in Archeage, COD, or a fist fight.

Thus i if at all possible I prefer to use English online, since it's usually universally understood. In other situations if I speak it I prefer to use the target's native tongue to insult them. Anger is emotion I want my opponent to feel, Confusion benefits me nothing after all.

It's laziness. The same laziness that drives people to shout one-word insults.

I don't think any insults from people actually bother me, due to being called deaf bastard by my Father all my childhood life! -shrugs- In another word I just laugh with them or it just simply doesn't bother me! =0

Does that mean I'm insane? Wait a min of course I am... After all I'm Marcus Octavius.. A Roman Emperor!

Rome died, murdered and raped by illiterate unwashed barbarian scum who couldn't tell east from west on the best day. Your weak legions fell before crudely forged weapons and inferior tactics and put up as much fight as a tied down whore. You are a stinking failure you sorry excuse of a Emperor, bah if you're an Emperor the shit a beggar leaves in the privy is a God.

Hmm that my be my most original one yet..
