Post Reply What's an insult that was said to you that left you more confused than offended?

It is indeed a satisfying feeling.

On the other anime site I go to:

'YOURE THE REASON SLAVERY SHOULD BE BOUGHT BACK'

Rome died, murdered and raped by illiterate unwashed barbarian scum who couldn't tell east from west on the best day. Your weak legions fell before crudely forged weapons and inferior tactics and put up as much fight as a tied down whore. I understand clearly but remember I said: "it could be", "at least for me", "in my case". Ie. I was speaking for myself and nobody else. You said you didn't know why they did it and that it left you confused so I felt the need to share the reason why I do it.

You don't have to agree with it. We all have a different way to do things.

If my reasoning seems silly to you, too bad and I don't care! that's how I am and how I do it. I also speak Portuguese and Italian but they're similar to spanish so it wasn't hard to insult or curse in those languages. English, on the other hand, it's boring so I rarely insult someone in English to hurt them since everybody is always cursing in english so it just sounds normal and less angry.

The good thing is that my friends know the spanish insults so I have no problem with them. Like I said before, when I fight face to face I do it in that person 's language but if it is just to myself or if I was passing by, I can switch to the one that feels better.

It's laziness. The same laziness that drives people to shout one-word insults.

Is that your experience? if you shout one word insults maybe you aren't angry enough and I don't think it is laziness if that person knows the language fluently. It can be laziness if they're just learning the language.

Anyway, this thread is not about languages and what started as a simple answer to someone's confusion, ended up in a debate about what's the "right" way to insult someone LOL so I will end it here.

I've had tons of Brits and Europeans call me a Yank as if that is an insult

Good luck rebuilding Rome while the Italians still live there. You will have to change the Italian Way to get anything accomplished.

It depends on the context and emphasis in the wording. Could be playful like calling a New Zealander a Kiwi.

Were you new to the area or something? Calling someone a "fish" is sometimes used to mean "new fish" as in "new person around here," particularly in prisons or other closed environments because it's like being in a fish bowl.

If you are a Baptist, then the insult has an even clearer meaning.

Ok this one got me very confused and happened like 10 minutes ago.

A coworker just told me "woah you're so slavic"

I didn't say anything because I didn't know what slavic was. I just googled it and I'm still lost (slavic people are the indo-european people, right? he knows where I'm from so I don't know why he said that...it must mean something else). . Was it an insult and what does it mean when you say someone is slavic?? lol
