Nostalgia. I used to think the movies and TV from my childhood was good, until I actually revisited it. Back in the good old days, the good older day were better.

Anyone remember the channel G4?

You know, before the removal of many original programming, Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb's descent into madness, controversy, and eventual complete rebranding to become the Esquire Network?

what the hell happened

I'll miss my Sara Underwood

Unrelated: To add something else to the list "Firefly"... that series had potential and they didn't give it the chance.

History Channel

This show used to have a plethora of documentaries and shows with historians discussing many past events. Now the most "educational" show on it is Pawn Stars.

Really miss Engineering an Empire, Dogfights (show about airplane battles), Engineering Disasters, Disasters of the century, The True Story of Alexander the Great, Decoding the Past, Third Reich: The Rise, Third Reich: The Fall, Surviving History, I could list these for hours.

This used to be my favorite channel as a kid, and I would still watch it now if it was still putting out the quality educational, historical shows it used to as history is extremely fascinating to me.

How about TLC--the Learning Channel--back when they used to show James Burke's Connections, and they weren't the Midgets and Trailer-Park Moms Channel?

but why are people thinking about there future grandkids? THEY AREN'T HERE lel

Lel, because I used anecdotal reasoning as to why I believe that older cartoons were better. It was one of the few moments of my childhood that I cherished when I got to spend time with my grandparents in Tennessee.

What exactly is wrong with thinking about the future? I don't ignore the present for it, but I do think about what kind of parent I want to be. I'm not going to be someone who is going to ignore their children while giving them an automated 2 player baby-sitter machine. So yah, I think about that stuff, and naturally I also think about what the world could be like by the time my children have their children, and if there is anything from now that I could share with them. And that is definitely not the Mr. Men Show.

There's so many things that have been ruined recently. But since most people here seem to be using TV channels as examples, I'll go down the same root.

Channel 4 and it's related channels have been ruined by two things. First of all, any American programming they have such as The Big Bang Theory seems to come and go without any real warning. The new season started then disappeared again partway through. Whether this is Channel 4 getting ahead of themselves and trying to broadcast it before they're allowed, or whether the American creators are being dicks and taking it away again, I don't know. But it's REALLY annoying.

Channel 4 is also ruined now because they've taken political correctness to ridiculous levels. I can understand the sentiment behind them wanting to give people an "alternative voice". Supporting Gay Pride, equal rights for people with disabilities, paralympics...yeah, great. But now every time you turn on any channel owned by them you have propaganda shoved in your face. There's adverts and trailers and even drama series basically saying "let the refugees in! Open up your spare rooms to Syrians or you're a bad person!". I'm getting sick of this now. Also, it's rather ironic that Channel 4 is sooo desperate to be so multi-cultural, yet they only show any foreign films on at 3am at night. If you love being multi-cultural so much, put them on during the daytime!

The BBC has also been ruined. BBC Three has been axed completely, and they've sold off a huge amount of their decent programming to other channels.
