Hey...

So before I say anything I would like to state I am not complaining at the fact there are ads for non-premium members. Crunchyroll needs to make income to keep providing the surface they do and I understand and respect that fact.

That being said the current ad system, at least to me, is very off-putting and annoying to the point where it seems as though, again just in my opinion, that Crunchyroll wants to make people either break down and dole out the cash for premium or stop watching. Now let me explain what I mean.

1). In the series I watch there are a total of maybe 4-5 different ads, all of which are for the same company, and quiet frankly it is making me hate the company. The company in question is TWC which I already have. That being said normally I don't mind watching a commercial for something I already have once every few commercial breaks. However the issue is that it is the same 4-5 ads for the same company running 3 in a row at probably 3-4 points during the show. If you are going to do ads, fine, but have SOME variety...

2). There's commercials at the start of the show AND after the opening... Where to even begin... after watching 1.5 minutes of ads before the show starts, seeing the brief amount of content before the opening, and then skipping over the opening (like many people who watch a series do b/c seeing the intro 24 times is boring) it makes it so there's maybe... I don't know... 1 or 2 minutes of break between commercials...

3). When ads start a message appears saying: "Your program will continue after this message" and in the upper left hand corner it says Ad 1 of 1. However there are then 3 ads, it really annoys me because it is just a blatant lie, and between each individual ad (all for the same company) the same message pops up taking even more time. If you are gonna put an ad counter please PLEASE have it display the ACTUAL ad amount...

I will edit this post later for more, for now I'll leave it at these issues....

Update: I have finally seen a commercial for another product, however when it came on it played 3 times, the exact same commercial, and then continued... As you can imagine this is very... annoying...

Don't get me started on the ads. I am a premium member and am still seeing them. Finally fed up with it, I googled and it seems I shouldn't be getting them, after all. I'm livid. I avoided CR for MONTHS because of this bug! Roku is the only device that is convenient for me to use CR on, since the iPad buffering sucks and computer isn't as comfortable as lounging on the couch. It's the only device I've ever gotten ads on.

After dealing with these ads despite paying for premium, I have to say, even for non-paying members these ads are TOO MUCH. They make the roku app unusable. They play way too often but worst of all it is the SAME SINGLE AD EVERY TIME, AND IT PLAYS 3 TIMES BACK TO BACK EVERY COMMERCIAL BREAK.

These may sound like obvious questions, and I mean no disrespect, but sometimes something obvious does get overlooked, and sometimes an automatic app update will incorrectly rewrite the old one...

Are you sure you are logged in on the Roku correctly presumably with the same id you are using here? Try pressing the "*" (splat/star/asterisk) key and going to settings, log out and back in again.

If that fails, have you tried completely deleting the app from the menu, and then re-adding it, and then logging back in?

The weird thing was, I was logged in, as I had my queue and such. I deleted the app and re-added it and that fixed my problem. If I'd known sooner that it wasn't supposed to work like that, I could've fixed it and been ad-free sooner.

I still feel bad for non-premium members getting the ads, though, and agree that something needs to be done about them. They are a bit out of control and the roku app is basically unusable with them.
