I just don't understand how it took this long for the body to be found. Did they never go shopping?

I'm going to assume the body was not *in* the vehicle for 10 years ( seeing she double bagged it, duct taped it up and covered in clothes in the trunk to hide it ) and she was instead transporting it. Perhaps having thought she could get rid of it without suspicion after hiding it for 10 years. The dark irony being that if she had not kept it bagged in the first place it wouldn't still be rotting and thus reeking for the officer to detect.

That said, I'll still trying to wrap my head around how the fuck no one noticed the kid missing. She went to prison for 4 years and no one thought to ask about what the court should do about her children after sentencing? No one thought to hey, maybe call CPS when she was charged with unloading a gun into her ex boyfriend's house to begin with?

There are some serious systematic failures here. This is going to get more infuriating the more details emerge.

And the legal system still believes mothers are the best option for child rearing

Responsible caring parents are the best for children, it's nothing to do with gender.

The courts, at least where I live, will 99% side with the mother, even after it's proven she's unfit for the child.

Obviously this is pretty fucked up, but I just can't take my mind off of how incredibly stupid the mother must have been to keep the body in the back of her car... for ten years... Not that I would have wanted her to get away with it, but goddamn woman, why didn't you get rid of the body?!

what do you think?
its not like she would think its stupid atleast according to the other things she has done.
So I think its pretty "reasonable" what she did or how she taught about it, and if it was about feelings/emotions and just did it insted.

I doubt it was actually in the car for 10 years. Its more likely after 10 years she thought she could get rid of it quietly but wisely decided to drive it with unlicensed plates on her car. The officer actually noticed a white bleach stain in the back seat of the vehicle ( she said she had spilled some bleach ) which was the first hint. Then they found the body after obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle. The smell wasn't apparent till they actually searched the trunk during the warrant.

The car actually belongs to her ex-husband but she basically stole it from him after the divorce. Which is why she couldn't get new plates for it I imagine. The car isn't in her name to begin with.

Its pretty unlikely this is just a case of pure stupidity though. This woman has got some mental/emotional problems for sure. So who knows how farked up the full story is going to be.
