When it was announced that the anime will adapt the prequel material into the series, I was excited. I love and am a huge fan of Fairy Tail. The creator, Hiro Mashima, finally lets us see the beginning of it all and connections that are still with the guild presently. Fairy Tail Zero will bring the story of the first master Mavis and how the creation of the guild Fairy Tail came to be. Of course if you've been watching the anime or read the actual manga, we're reintroduced to not only Mavis but a couple other characters that have had their parts started here as well (at least in connection to the guild).

Mavis Vermillion is the true charm of the story but that's to be expected. From the first moment we see her as a child, it can't be helped but to admire her. She is grateful even for the little she has and always sees the upside of things. Reading and meeting fairies one day seems to get her through her early days. Even after tragedy, she only only takes care of herself but her friend Zera as well displaying that protective side of her.

The chance meeting of Yuri Dreyar, Precht Gaebolg, and Warrod Sequen allowed her to put her budding curiosity and wit to good use for herself or for the three men. It's really amazing how she thinks so quickly without missing a beat. Her interactions between each of them is unique to their personalities especially with Precht. There was resistances on his part but she managed to find misunderstandings about him that put his character in a good light. This is a clear start to the good relationship that they'll eventually have as future guild masters of Fairy Tail.

Fairy Tail Zero will be a fun series to enjoy especially for Fairy Tail fans. There is more to come and interesting developments that explain future events. The opening theme "Ashita o Narase" performed by Kavka Shishido is a great piece for this part of the series. It's not only a great song but the animation and transitions of the characters goes well with the music. Probably one of the best openings for the entire Fairy Tail series.

Catch new episodes of Fairy Tail Zero every Friday at 9pm (EST) on Crunchyroll.

Just saw the first episode of it today, and it sounds super interesting! Can't wait to sit down and watch more. Glad they chose to implement this instead of fillers or something.

...Also would love it if all the recent episodes of Fairy Tail weren't almost broken.

I loved watching this series as there was a couple of filler episodes halfway through but it makes sense as in the manga it justs jumps from town to town with no sense. However the rest was well done. The intro was amazing I even downloaded it into my phoneXD.

I did not like is the fact that it was short, This side story could of spanned onto more, but i feel as hiro wants to spend his time and energy on his own first work fairy tail.
