I never had an imaginary friend because my family said things like that came from the devil.

SHE"S NOT IMAGINARY! If she was I'd never listen to the things she says to do. (Insert Creepy Pause and Evil Grin)

Seriously though no, I had real friends I played with.

No, I was one of those kids who self-inserted himself into whatever series at the time I was interested in. Imagining the real characters and setting while playing in the backyard. I even had a couple real friends join in with me on that.

The usual go-to was the original Star Wars lore. lol

My imaginary childhood friends are still a part of the internal story I tell myself, though they have evolved over their years. A few have even passed on, their roles completed.

Poor Moreta, partial mind upload to ship systems, personality forever static lest she go mad once more.

I thought i was weird for not having one? I mean i tried multiple times to come up with one but it didn't really make sense to me. I had my real friends that i got to play with all the time so i guess i didn't need an imaginary one, although i'd generally have a better time just being alone rather than trying to pretend someone was there with me. It's why i'm at expert at talking to myself

yeah.
i once had a sinister hallucination/dream/nightmare/godknowswhat where i swore i saw an actual grim reaper apparition of sorts and it spoke to me. one of the few things from my childhood that actually stuck with me as far as memory retention goes, a lot of what i experienced back then has become distant due to years of overwhelming emotional pileup and other trauma/drama, but what i do remember is generally being a demented kid. don't know if such an experience could be considered an encounter with an imaginary friend if it was only once, though.
