I adore Mushishi! Humanity has Declined really fell on its face in my opinion, I liked the first 2 episodes and the time travel episode but it fell flat for me. I actually started reading Tonari no Seki-Kun before finding the anime. Eh. It's not for me either. It's a good waste of 15 minutes, but it's 10 episodes too long for me. I have heard of Mononoke but never watched it. Might check out a couple of these. I would recommend some good animes but I don't know how lesser known they would be like Usagi Drops, Anohana, Beautiful Bones, Watamote and Another. [Shockingly I couldn't stand the Watamote manga but I really enjoyed the anime]

I really don´t see how are we supposed to enjoy recommendations that are "blocked in my region". Mononoke is an awesome series that I never got to fully enjoy for this same reason.

It breaks my heart that even though I subscribed to fully enjoy crunchy roll I only get merely half of it.

Quick word of warning about "From the New World" for those planning to watch it. There's a chance you might get angry at some of the moral changes of society and in the events of the show...possibly angry enough to affect your enjoyment of the show.

Anyone who's read stories like "Brave New World" (written by Aldous Huxley) will have an idea of what to expect.

Did you seriously just suggest Shin Sekai Yuri without a massive warning label, in all-red caps, bolded, underlined?

I still regard that as the darkest anime I have ever watched. And, dark animes, I've pretty much seen them all.

Some of the above mentioned titles have regional restrictions, are you sure CR won't get into any trouble with some of the local license holders by showing these titles on the live stream?

Our livestream is geo-blocked, so we're good on that front. Also, we generally try to show titles with the widest range of territories.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! We only pick a couple of titles this time as we didn't want to inundate the post, but in the future if you guys enjoy these types of posts we'll be focusing on more specific themes, and posting other titles that didn't get a chance this time around.

Mushi-shi is a slower but still creepy man vs monster anime series, Mononoke is a very stylized anime series with some very interesting twist and turns, Moyashimon is one of the few anime set in university and it's about fungi and it's importance to our everyday lives, and Tonari no Seki-kun: The Master of Killing Time is just plain endearing for those of us who have been bored to tears in high school and how we could have entertained ourselves at the back of the class.

Shin Sekai Yuri isn't a hidden gem so much as a protracted acid trip that goes really, really bad.

Mononoke was fantastic, I've watched it several times over -- especially the incense chapter. I'd add Wakako-Zake and The Nameko Families to this list, too. Both are shorts series and definitely worth your time if you're looking for some quirky, underrated gems to dig into. The recent Tabamachi Late Show was great, too. Don't ever hesitate to give a first episode a shot on here if it piques your interest, there's a lot of gold to be found where you wouldn't expect it.

You've got a great list of very distinguished shows there, and while I'm not familiar with all of them, I'd say you are spot on! The ones on my Must-See list are Mushi-shi, Mononoke, Shin Sekai Yori, Flowers of Evil (dont bitch about the rotoscoping - JUST WATCH IT!!), Tonari no Seki-kun, and, of course, Teekyu - and dont stop at just one series, do all seven, but maybe not all at once or you could find yourself having some sort of medical emergency!!!
And people say they cant find anything to watch!!!

I was thinking about the hidden Gems of Crunchyroll once I started watching "Blast of Tempest". That anime is soooo goood, but why in the heck is it not in OP's list?
