The Machine gunners. A book set in England during WW2. A favourite when I was a kid

Hayao Miyazaki had a special interest in this wonderful book and even wrote a manga where he imagined meeting the author, Robert Westall and also visited the town, Tynemouth, where the book is set.

I'd love to see a proper anime. There is already a live action series from the 70's by the BBC but it wasn't great.

Graceling by Kristen Cashore. It's an action/romance book that has a story that has a bit of mystery to it as well. It'd certainly be interesting to see.

My favorite is A Clockwork Orange but I really couldn't see an anime adaptation of that

The instruction manual for a TI-84 plus calculator.

-I have never been able to get myself to read the entire thing, but I'd wager an anime adaption would not only make it more interesting, but also raise awareness to the fact that those devices can perform functions you'd never have imagined from it...

Slaughterhouse 5.
It would definitely be...interesting. Dresden firebombings, being kept as a zoo animal by fourth-dimensional beings, etc.

That'd be a good one.

A take on a Terry Pratchett discworld story might work too

We already have a anime that explained the medieval economy called Spice & Wolf
Why not give a chance of explaining the political side of the coin in The Spirit of the Laws by Montesquieu.
