It is easy to get a hold of, Christ lady I had to go through more effort to buy weed killer then you would have to buy Potassium Nitrate in any appreciable quantity. People like you need to learn that the base ingredients are harmless on there on. And often serve much more mundane purposes.

And honestly if he was making homemade explosives C4 or Semtex is a much better way to go. After all Potassium Nitrate is not used in ANFO.

Oh, so there is better ingredients to use? I should really have known that! My apologies for not being an expert in how to make a fucking bomb!

Try Duda Energy ( http://www.dudadiesel.com/choose_item.php?id=10pn&gclid=CPiA15DcjssCFVNbhgodfYoBrw ) its 10 pounds but that is the closest to "bulk" I could find.

Explosive knowledge is not needed. I mean I assume you paid attention during Chemistry right. Potassium Nitrate is an oxidizer, ya remember what oxidizer is right?

Indeed, I paid attention in chemistry. But my chemistry lessons didn't teach us how to use these chemicals as bombs. Imagine that?

And I be surprised if it did since Potassium Nitrate is only dangerous when it's add to other very specific chemicals since all it really does is increase the amount of oxygen available in a reaction.

The OP is claiming to use as fuel for his rocket. Likely producing KN03, which at it's worse might give him some nasty burn scars if handled inappropriately.

You have likely eaten Potassium Nitrate all your damn life. It is a common ingredient in cured meats.

Ya really need to learn the actual usages of chemicals before you assume everyone who wants something as harmless as Potassium Nitrate is out to go all Allah Ackbar on your middle class neighbourhood.

Considering the OP doesn't know how to acquire it and quite a few people have said it seems suspicious, it clearly isn't as harmless as you make out.

There probably are much better methods to use to make bombs. But I wouldn't know, not being a terrorist.

Neither am I, explosives and their production is something every soldier learns during training.

As for the suspicions of other people, not my fault their education was clearly subpar. Worse case and I am talking worse case scenario the OP can use it to make black powder along with some other much harder to get chemicals...Ya afraid of somebody with a musket making the streets run red with blood one corpse every 20 seconds?

Sure you could use black powder to make an IED but it's not the most ideal solution and the damage would be not as great with something much easier to produce like ANFO or even C4. A hot plate, a trip to a local drugstore, a scale, and a mortar and pestle and you to can make C4.

Good to know you're a soldier so you have a legitimate reason for knowing this stuff. I was starting to get worried. People in the armed forces would know all about this sort of thing, I'm sure.

I wouldn't say it meant anyone's education was "subpar". Unless you're training to be in the armed forces, why would school teach you this sort of thing? it's natural for people to become suspicious of something they don't fully understand. If a guy asks where he can buy a certain chemical but you don't actually know what it can be used for, in this unstable climate people are going to think "that's rather suspicious..."

I would indeed be scared of a musket though. It may be outdated and not the quickest and easiest of weapons, but it can still kill someone.

Yeah it's my party trick, I go on about the amount of stuff military life taught me. And watch them take a look at my dark skin, my angular features and then I adopt a Middle Eastern accent. Then watch them turn grey slowly before I flash them my military id. Total laugh that.

Anyway I guess it's because I knew about this from a very young age. My adoptive father made sure I knew everything I needed to know so I never understood people's unease around the stuff I knew. I just always figure surely their parents and educational institutes did as well.

As for muskets I'd only be wary around a Kentucky Longrifle, it's about the only accurate muzzleloader ever made. Something like a Brown Bess I'd take my chances, they were only really dangerous in volley fire not singe shot aim and pull.

That must be pretty fun actually...seeing people starting to panic with their dramatic conclusions before they breath a huge sigh of relief.

Well it isn't the sort of thing parents or schools would normally teach (and I'm pretty glad about that really).

I don't know much about muskets, but they're a weapon of sorts and I'm pretty nervous of any weapon. Although they seem rather time consuming to actually shoot. So while the person was trying to prepare it for firing I'd probably move as fast as I could to either get away or to knock the thing out of their hand.
