As for scanning the interwebs in general.. Well, I know my employer does that.

On an unrelated note, I love my job and deserve a raise.

Not sure if my employer does it but I always use aliases just in case

Also, I love my job and deserve a promotion AND a 2x raise

I don't use so-called social media but if I did I'd probably be wasting their time with pictures of my pets and scenery shots from the places I visit on my vacations.

I like to think they go on your facebook and see you copy and paste something "deep" and they just go "who do they think they are" or "you gotta be kiddin' me" Then they look at your 7000 selfies of you doing the same pose in front of 7000 backgrounds and just feel bad for you being so self absorbed. You still get the job though because the other guy dropped his crack pipe on the way out.

Hmm.. Imagined Teacher with Biggest Boob in the world host a webcam chat and charged 5.99 dollar per min! Now that employers will know her secret.. and the Employer happen to be male.. will he fired her from teaching job or try to make a deal with her that he'll keep it secret if she have sex with him? XD

For those who are working for someone else right now,

What do you think of your company possibly scanning the interwebs for anything and everything you might post there?

On one hand I suppose they don't want their employees posting stuff like "my job is shite" or "dis company is shite" but one kinda wonders if any minor thing would get you the boot, and which exactly those minor things are minor and which aren't... according to them... at the moment.

I think I'm probably not getting this job now, and there goes my job...

Meh, considering the only thing under my actual name is a Facebook account I haven't updated in years I think I am okay. Besides I will never talk shit about the Canadian Armed Forces. I don't regret a single thing about the tags around my neck nor the uniform on my back.

The actual government , fuck 'em. Bunch of dickless worms lately anyway.

If it's just things like looking at what you publicly post on Facebook, I don't see a problem. If they're trying to get into your account for whatever reason, you should probably call the cops and find a new job...

I keep my social media that I do not want seen either to myself or private and I NEVER friend people who might work with me. It is nothing personal but it is safer for the both of us.

"Just has we suspected. it's dull and boring." is what my employer would say after looking at my Facebook page.

As someone who routinely has background checks due to the nature of her job, I solve this problem by not having social media.

I'm ok with companies looking at social media. My employer does it to me, so why should it be different for anyone else?

I think they have no business being in my private business. I still don't post anything that could potentially get me fired, but I don't think companies should be looking into my private life.

Doesn't bother me. If I put it out there it's free game for anyone that wants to read it. I'm not on social media though.

Lie that I don't have one. In either case I don't use my real name or photos.
