How do you feel about openings or endings to animes?
I recently started hating them just after realizing that a lot of the content is being shown to me before I even know what's going on.

Like the primary secret antagonist? In the opening.
A character's final form? In the opening.
The __th member of the group? In the opening

Of course there is the awesome music but even then I much rather just dive into an anime without any sneak peeks.
How do you feel?

I love anime openings! However, it is definitely true that some, if not most shows' openings contain spoilers.

Well to me it is more of hyping up the moment. Watching an op should really immerse you into the entirety of what you will be watching, a lot of animes that I have watched have done this, it's not really a spoiler, it just puts everything into perspective.

Some anime have really nice openings that I'll watch, but I usually skip them. They have to be extremely good for me to sit through and listen to it.

Also, most anime just love to have a small "cliffhanger" and toss the opening in the middle of an awesome situation, in that case I will definitely skip because it's annoying. It's an OPENING, have it at the beginning not 5-10 minutes into a 20 minute episode.

As for endings, never really cared for them. Very few I've bothered to listen to.

In all honesty I love open and ending "songs." For that reason I find myself checking my phone, cooking food, playing with the cat when said opening/closing is going on. I can still listen while doing these things. Also I probably watch 90% of my anime sub soit really is my only free time hehe.

I don't really pay much attention to the OP/ED animations, so spoilers aren't too much of a concern.

OP/ED music is awesome.

I watch the openings/endings for the themes. Ilove the Gate OP1, but haqte the OP2 for the stupid guitar solo. Konosuba has the best ED theme this season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtfegt0PVr0 However I do like the Gate 2 ED theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfcHUeJBbdc

I love openings and endings

I actually skip them until after I finish the entire anime

feel neutral towards them
maybe i'll listen to it once, then i'll start skipping if i dont really like the song
i've skip most of them, i think hxh was one anime where i didnt skip cuz i wanted the episode to feel like it lasted longer, cuz everytime i watch a new episode, it felt like 5 minutes had passed instead of 22 minutes. am childish in that regards

Many of them I'll skip because they're annoying..

In particular, I couldn't stand the OP for No.6 - but it eventually grew on me to a point where it's one of my fave strange little songs.

And though there is some "spoilery" stuff in many OPs, you usually can't tell if it's a spoiler or just some visual flair until you watch the anime through.

When the Evangelion OP first begins you're not really sure what those flashes are all about but at the end it all makes sense (not the plot, but you do understand what you were looking at.)

And some are just fun, like Death Parade:

And Pani Poni Dash:

And Pani Poni's 2nd OP is so stupidly popular it's become a monetized commodity (and thus impossible to find on the internet as an example due to copyright.)

But overall, one variation I'm the most fond of is when an OP becomes a preface to the story itself. A good example is Beyond the Boundary. Viewing in context of the anime itself, when it's first introduced it's just sort of chipper and ambitious.. but you later realize what all the imagery is and when in time it's taking place.

And of course, the endings can vary.. but again i like Beyond the Boundary as an example because it always "creeps in" at the end of an episode. There is artistic merit in working to make it segue so well.

And one more just for funsies..

Yeah I agree a few openings and endings can contain content unexpected.
Like too many trailers out at the moment.

However for immersion & memorable sake it really works.

I love the openings but I almost never listen to the endings for some reason.

I like openings and endings when they add to the experience.
The best openings get me pumped to watch the show that follows. Like Baccano- Guns and Roses.

The best endings add to the emotional sting of the episode's final scenes. It's hard to do but a good example is the first ending to Gundam Iron Blooded orphans. And to a lesser extent Blood Blockade Battlefront- Sugar Song to Bitter Step.

I don't watch the openings or closings that I prefer to listen to. I just do something for the next 90 or so seconds.

Depending on the show, they tend to make me depressed.
