Going about my life I've never actually encountered anyone that I would classify as a "tsundere." Has anyone out there ever met a person in real life that actually fits the stereotypical behavior of this common Japanese character archetype? What are they like? Were they an acquaintance, friend, romantic conquest?

This is just something I've been curious about for a while - thanks for any kind of response.

Sophie was a Tsundere, and I guess in the end she counted as a romantic conquest. Hell of a girl Sophie, she had a right uppercut to respect ya know.

A response to my first ever post on this site. I'm sure in the future I'll look back on this moment with a nostalgic gaze.

I've never actually encountered anyone that I would classify as a "tsundere", either. Either way, I think chicks can be whatever they choose to be as long as their personalities don't affect me.

Ranwolf - Hah, AOA is actually a Kpop group, and no it was just the song that happened to be on from the playlist I'm listening to whilst working on an animation project. Bumping music with lyrics I can't understand helps with focus for some reason.

KurtIrving - A thoughtful and down to earth sentiment, thank you for contributing. For being second, you get this slightly lesser, though still thoroughly entertaining prize:

Don't know mate, I've been trying to find them myself. Found a few cray cray girls, a goth chick with more scars than me ( quite the feat as I have quite the collection ), a couple of false positives. so 0 and 5 thus far.

That level of possessive and adorable lethality seems non existent.

I'm mainly curious as to whether they're actually cute/entertaining as portrayed in anime/manga or if their behavior just comes off as bitchy and a pain in the ass in the real world.

Personally I think the problem is so few girls possess enough lethality to pull of a Yandere. I mean somebody with my skills threatens to kill you if you so much as think to look at another girl and guy and most romantic partners would shit themselves and comply.

I have yet to find a girl that is more lethal than me though so perhaps I am never going to find a Yandere.

I think I read something a long time ago about tsundere behavior being based on the way little kids generally act when interacting with their crush. By that I mean the way the kid fights with the person of their affection and pretends that they don't like them even though they're doing this for their attention. For some reason, Japanese men apparently find this attractive in women...

Maybe they just prefer a challenge, Tsundere aren't the easiest types to warm up to after all. And a hard fought battle is much more satisfying than a steamroller victory ya dig.

Ranwolf - There there, I'm sure one day you'll meet the psycho-bitch of your dreams, and together you'll family a clan of great honor and power.

PG - That's a pretty spot on analysis, and I wouldn't doubt it to be true. For some reason I find tsundere characters rather endearing and adorable (perhaps because I liked when girls acted like that when I was a kid?) but I can't imagine actually wanting to be around someone who acted like that. It's a conundrum that has me burning far more brain cells than it's probably worth.
