Why are we afraid to make positive changes in our lives?

It doesn't matter.

Those are all valid reasons to not change.
Another is you may be better off not changing the situation. For example exercise: life would be easier without it and you'd have more time for other things, but if you keep at it you get stronger.

Good question, but I think the comfort zone's what holds most people in place.:P

For me it's pure procrastination. I don't want to say laziness, but I do have a vitamin deficiency, insomnia and an electrolyte issue. So I feel very tired all the time. I do what needs to be done for the day and tend to sleep everything else off. I can miss out on things that will benefit me in a good way sometimes.

Aside from that, my life is good and positive anyway.

Honestly, I think even when there is room for improvement we still find that there are also risks involved in change. So we begin to procrastinate. Change brings on a lot of stress, be it good or bad. It is hard to step out of what we know (our comfort zone) into the unknown. There are no guarantees and what we currently have and know feels more certain even if it is less than ideal.
