Yes. My mother's homemade sour cream butter from raw, local milk is the only butter that I don't mind doing that with liberally. Usually when I'm making bread or white sauce. It tastes different from store-bought.

I scoff at those who act like it's any different from putting butter on or with anything else before indulging.

I've heard that this guy in high school would take a bar of butter and dipped them into sugar and eat them! =0

No. I'll lick the residue from a knife, but butter tastes better when there's food under it.

For example, every once in awhile when I'm making a baked potato for lunch I sneak a couple of bites of butter as I'm using it for the potato. I was just wondering if anyone ever occasionally does the same thing.

You say that like any amount of butter you bite into derectly from the stick isn't weird.

butter is animal fat and sometimes milk fat. Taking a bite out of a stick of butter is like opening the grease trap on your grill and drinking derectly from it...Oh yea grease is also animal fat.

I don't consider it weird.

I can barely eat things that have a lot of butter in them, like buttercream icing for example. I tend to scrape most of that off any cakes. I can't imagine trying to eat straight butter. Seems like it would have an unpleasant texture. Depends on what you're used to eating, I suppose.
