From what I can drudge up, the cancer rate there isn't higher. But the cancer mortality rate is the highest in the state. Due to poor early detection and health care access.. So you aren't more likely to get cancer, but you are more likely to die from it if you do.

So, uh, sleep well I guess? >.>

Used to live in an area with lots of trees, off the beaten path, hippies have been growing organic for a long time etc etc, clean air, no smog...

Complete hotbed for cancer. Maybe clean air and fresh water cause cancer.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Tons of pesticide and herbicides.

Phoenix is bad too with all the smog.

Excessive consumption of meat can cause cancer, so maybe that's part of it?

chems, smoke (either smoking or cooking meat indoors without proper flow of air and etc)
There is really much you can get cancer from.
And yes some could be in what food you are eating as well, but then agian then you could die from fat before anything and cancer isn't "that bad" to say it like that.

Here's the basics about cancer clusters: http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/substances/cancer-clusters-fact-sheet

Don't know about your town, but Love Canal is the most notorious one.

If there's an old shipyard, I bet a lot of asbestos was used.
Edit: Oh, well, the black sooty stuff is probably to blame.
