I would think tackling isn't the best choice against someone with a bladed weapon... is 8 inches including the tang? (or uhhh handle i guess in the case of cheap ass knives)

Still though I would hope that an adult would use leverage and zone the attacker with their superior length than going for a tackle unless it was from the back.

One we aren't dealing with trained combatants. Two we are dealing with adults who are likely not all that gung ho about straight up attacking a young girl. It's kinda the reason why those lacking morality use child soldiers, even hardened combat veterans have very little desire to kill children. Even if they are pointing weapons at them. I can't imagine untrained civilians would be capable of something even soldiers struggle with.

Meh, you reap what you sow. She's old enough to know what the consequences of her actions are. Old enough to understand the difference between life and death. I rather hope she is tried as an adult. You have to make examples when stuff like this happens.

I'm no scientist but I know that before your frontal lobe fully develops in your twenties your judgment can be clouded pretty easily. Besides that she's pretty clearly mentally disabled so I refuse to fault her. I'm not saying what she did was right it, in fact it was very wrong but I am not without sin and folly myself so I shall not judge.

I like how your military experiences have helped enlightened CR members in many aspects of life.

Somehow I knew the OP was going to say "Lets Ban Knives."

Only a few seriously injured, no one killed. Yea... if it was guns it would have been worse, but whatever.

Like many others, the girl will reap what she sowed. She was mentally ill though so I hold no hard feelings. Makes me think of Mary Bell in a way...

I am really tried of people trying to claim the old mentally disabled sympathy card. She committed a serious crime , a crime that anyone else would have ended up doing real time for. The law applies equally to all or to none at all, you can't make exceptions regardless of what the conditions surrounding the crime are. If you do so then Justice is not blind and in fact has 20/20 vision.

She had a tumblr account? Yup. Definitely ill.

Jokes aside, at least now there's one less idiot running around. I wonder what her upbringing was like though. It might explain some of it.

As my people say there are no bad children only bad parents. So I am guessing a pretty damn shite upbringing.

Having grown up with a shitty childhood and being a part some things that I can't mention on here I can understand how it affects a person. Especially at such a young age. Though I would never go as far as to let it be used as an excuse for anyone, I am curious if she had neglectful parents Or perhaps events going on outside her home that were being ignored. Maybe more details will come out.
