I lived paycheck to paycheck for most of my 20s. I wasn't really poor in the true sense, but there were times I fell short on bills and living expenses. I got my gas/electric turned off, was thrown out of more than one apartment, and even went hungry a few times. I just lived through it day by day, week by week. I was young and always found a way to cope. It was more about mismanaging my money than anything else, though I did make very little. Eventually I grew up, got a decent job, quit most of my bad habits, and started being more responsible. Once I got used to having money in the bank I decided never to go back to being broke.

Later I inherited a large sum of money and haven't had to worry about it too much.

I found that selling organs is a great way to make some extra cash, especially if they're not yours.

Remember when we could look at others and see we were better off. Well, time to find a mirror.

if i have the basic necessities, i dont consider myself poor. poor is when u can't even afford food, i don't think i'll ever get to that stage. because my government has a good welfare system that won't let people get to that stage.

(they even pay $6000 if you just got a new job and u stay in it for 3 years consecutively)

How did I handle being poor?

Mother and father were poor for a period of time. Dad worked two jobs when the goings got tough. Thanks to my fathers military service of 25 years, he was able to get a really good job. My mother worked hard to establish her career many years later. Now they are living well.

I worked two jobs to put myself though college. I hated it, but I envisioned that many years down the line I would have a better life for myself. I worked hard, gained knowledge and pursued the skills needed to be successful.

It doesn't matter the occupation you choose. What matters is how much effort you put into that occupation to make it successful, and working hard to become the best at what you do. I read a article of NewYork trash truck drivers and collectors making over six figures.

Being poor produced persistence!

I even hit rock bottom once when a drunk driver hit me, putting me in the hospital for a long time. Debt collectors called the house, and my neighbors in attempt to contact me. I had to determine which bills were priority to pay first. Even getting to a job interview was a crisis. Cheap Ramen noodles were breakfast, lunch and dinner for me.

My father was shocked recently to find out that me and him are pretty much close in salary at my young age.

Being poor did suck, I was envious going to car meets with my crappy car. Females were turned off by the foam sticking out of the leather seats. I couldn't travel anywhere, and was depressed most of the time. But I didn't let that stop me from doing whatever it took to get out of that situation.

Speaking from experience:

1 day at a time.

Nice theory.

Working 40 hours a week at minimum wage only pays ~10k a year.
I supported a family of on that, without any state aid, for several years.

The states position was, quit college and get a second job if you want assistance. No thank you.
