I bought the kindle fire hd for school and everyday use. I checked for the crunchyroll app in the app store before buying it, just in case. But upon buying it, I found that it won't even come up in appstore because it's incompatible. The same goes for Kindle Fire TV. I posted this question in a thread before, I believe. I want to be able to watch Crunchyroll and read manga without having to use the weird kindle browser. And I'd like to be able to access my account through it easier. What's up with that?

Yup, apparently Crunchyroll hasn't bothered updating the app in KindleStore in a while, and Crunchyroll Support refused to provide me with an APK to sideload...

There is no version that is compatible with the requirements currently set forth by Amazon. They basically require a whole new app these days.

It wouldn't kill Crunchyroll to provide their APK for download from their website though. I've sideloaded other apps on my Kindle. I'm not going to risk installing anything from some random free APK repository where who knows what got uploaded and by whom, but I'd trust a download from crunchyroll.com.

Our app is not going to work after the latest OS update by Amazon, as far as I know.

Are Fire OS apps something that we can look forward to at some point or is it a lost cause? I know people want the CR app working on every device conceivable, no matter how small the user base, but ignoring Amazon's devices but supporting devices that are not as popular seems...odd. I guess more CR users might own Playstation Vitas than the general population. The FireTV stick was one of Amazon's top selling items last year, that's a huge user base.

Have you tried it? I have a few apps which I sideloaded before the update, and they still work. None of them are video streaming apps tho.

I can't watch any videos on Crunchyroll on my kindle because it isn't supported on Flash and your app doesn't cover Kindle. Why am I paying for premium every month when I can only watch it one place, my laptop, while you go and end up on every other platform? I never even heard of this play station vista til finding out you support that but not Amazon. You even support a tablet I had 6 years ago that broke from crappy parts!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Vita support was a requirement of getting on the PlayStation 3 (and later the 4).

I'm curious what 6 year old tablet you have that would support CR. Perhaps you aren't taking into account the minimum OS version required. For example, as I recall, Android requires at least version 4.1 to support video playback. That OS is about 3.5 years old, and most Android tablets don't do a bang-up job on keeping old devices updated to later versions of the OS. On the iOS side, the current app requires at least iOS7, which rules out the first iPad, and the iPad 2 was introduced 5 years ago.

It was some, uh I don't even remember the name, oh Nextbook. And, at least according to the app of Crunchyroll Amazon does have, the app would work on that Yifang etc. one though not on any fire product. Which is upsetting, especially since Funimation just released their new app, which works perfectly on the tablet and can be mirrored on the tv. And they are releasing the Fire Tv version in a few weeks, and it's available darn near everywhere. And we all know, the Funimation site has it's own problems, I only got it for the few anime it has that Cr doesn't, and for dubs. But the app now has the autoplay option that Cr has, and works a lot more like the Cr site. If both could level up that'd be great. Even Hulu and Netflix don't have everything you can get here. I'm shelling out the bucks, I want the product to be good.

Checking Amazon's app store, I see why the app they have would still run on that old a tablet; it is an old, outdated version (0.9.7) that only required Android 2.3 or newer.
