At school or work, are you mostly positively motivated or negatively motivated?

Brief explanation...

Positive motivation (i.e. "the carrot"): Doing something because you like it or even love it. Doing something because the rewards are great. Doing something because it feels good.

Negative motivation (i.e. 'the STICK"): Doing something because if you DON'T, you'd lose your job, you'd have nothing to eat, nowhere to stay at, you'd disappoint some people, you'd disappoint yourself, you'd get in trouble with someone holding a big stick, et cetera.

OR

Neither. You mostly do things without a real motivation- Just going through the paces: You're doing something because that's what you've been doing yesterday, the day before and the day before that. You're doing something because there's not much ELSE to do. Because after middle school is high school, after high school is college, after marriage is having kids, et cetera...

That's pretty much it- If it's not for a dream or a personal liking then it's just a paycheck.

I don't really have any sort of a dream- I have what I have and I'm quite content with what I have, and I know the job gave me a lot of it so I had better keep on at it. There would be a real long line of eager people who'd more than glad to replace me if I don't.

That qualifies as negative motivation as in "Doing something because if you don't, you'd be in trouble with someone holding a big stick"

In that case it's positive motivation if you like it.

If it's neither liking nor disliking then it's probably just going through a regular routine.

it's cuz when I was young, people's influence took easy control over me, so I felt like I had to go down the path they recommended.
but for the first time in my life, I feel like i'm doing something for myself for once.

I said, Look I want to write a book, I don't care if it doesn't sell any copy. This is what I want to do. It's empowering, to be honest.

I'd have to say the say it's about the same way as what this guy explained
